More sketches while I finish the first chapter
And everything falls apart.
First art of 2026
Smoke humming down a log's bruised neck
The spruces, they burn black, but they'll sprout back up again
Would I show who I am, if I knew this world would end?
Or would I snuff sparks as they catch?
Regarding Typhaon
The Okapi, Vessel of Leshy and the New Chaos. Madness in burned skin, yet with warmth hidden in the smoke. Verily a child of Chaos, she doth shift betwixt male and female at whim, ever unstable and impetuous. A frantic and lively Creature, folk are drawn unto her for the freedom she bestoweth. Depravity and recklessness are her chosen aims; she holdeth that anarchism begetteth independence, and independence bringeth joy. She smiteth the heretics that would bind, seeking naught but liberty. As the Last Okapian, Typhaon refuseth to leave the world confined in its own cage.
Before the world sharpened its teeth, Typhaon lived a warm, noisy, beautifully chaotic life with her three brothers, two sisters, and two fathers. But then came the genocide of the Okapia. The invaders burned monuments until they curled into blackened ribs. They torched villages until they sank into their own ashes. And one by one, they dragged every Okapian they could find toward the flames. Her fathers were taken first. Her siblings followed. Bound, hoisted, set alight, each becoming another terrible pillar of smoke twisting into the sky like a plea the heavens refused to hear.
The world was ending one body at a time, and the fire feasted without mercy. Finally, they seized Typhaon - shoved her toward the inferno, the heat kissing her face like a cruel mockery of affection. She was the last. The very last of the Okapia.
And while the others had screamed or sobbed or cursed the gods, Typhaon met the flames with laughter.

Which variant of Typhon's origins do you like more?
Son of Gaia, with or without Tartaros (Hesiod, many others)
Parthenogenetic child of Hera (Homeric Hymn 3 to Apollo, Stesichoros)
Born from Kronos and Gaia through the intervention of Hera (schol. ad Il. 2.783)
#Typhon #Typheus #Typhaon #Typhos Typhon was the offspring of Mother Earth and Tartarus. He was the last son for Gaia and the largest, most feared of all monstrosities. He had the upper half of a human with one hundred dragon heads covering each arm. Another version depicts his top half as having the head of a large beast with smaller snake heads coming out of his neck and fingers. His lower half comprised of several serpent-like coils. Venom oozed from his many mouths and hot molten lava spewed from his huge glowing eyes. His enormous wings enveloped his entire body. He was so large that he would block out the sun when he stretched his wings and so tall that his head seemed to even reach the stars. This horrendous mythical creature was so large that the Greek gods fled from Mount Olympus to avoid fighting him. This horrible beast was finally crushed beneath Mount Etna on the island of Sicily by none other than Zeus, the king of the Greek gods. Mt. Etnas' volcanic eruptions are said to be this monsters' enraged breaths over being trapped below. Typhaon fathered several beasts with Echidna, his niece. His offspring included Cerberus , the Chimera, Hydra, Ladon, the Nemean Lion , Orthus and theSphinx.
