This month's Typostammtisch will showcase two amazing design studios!

Studio Pandan @studiopandan and Eps51 @eps51 share a building (on Möckernstraße) and a specialist area (typography). Founders Pia Christmann and Ann Richter (Studio Pandan), and founders Ben Wittner and Sascha Thoma (Eps51) will share insights into their work and their approach to typography.

Typostammtisch #93 — It’s back!

The last Berlin Typostammtisch was at the end of February 2020 just before all social gatherings stopped for what felt like forever. Contrary to many other groups, conferences, & meetups, the Berlin TST decided to forego online meetings – preferring to wait the virus out till it was safe enough to meet again in person. Well, that time is finally now and it couldn’t come soon enough!

In just 2 days the whole Berlin type scene will meet up at Prater Biergarten. Beer, food, intellectual typographic philosophy, chit-chat, gossip, old & new friends... It’ll be a great time, you should come! Bring something typographic to show off – some new work, a book, an object, some news... anything you want to share!

And as an additional event bonus there will be another Type Walk hosted by Florian Hardwig and Fritz Grögel. It’ll be the 5th year they are doing this, and I’d love to recommend you taking part. Unfortunately, they have limited spaces, and they got reserved almost immediately.

It's time again to take* your current type design projects and talk about them with top notch experts from the Berlin type scene face to face - like Ulrike Rausch (LiebeFonts), Erik Spiekermann (p98a), Johannes Breyer (Dinamo), Andreas Frohloff & Ivo Gabrowitsch (Fontwerk), Golnar Kat Rahmani (Type & Politics), Anja Meiners (bBox Type) and Luc(as) de Groot (LucasFonts). Even for those who don’t feel like talking about their designs, it will certainly be a great evening. We meet us at Café Hardenberg.

Mastering Type 2019 offers the opportunity to see the latest theses of international type design master programs in one place. This year projects by students from Amiens (FR), Den Hague (NL), Lausanne (CH), Nancy (FR) and Reading (UK) will be shown, as well as the work of the five-week summer course TypeParis (FR).

It’s time again for our typographic quiz. This year carried out by last year’s finalists Tilmann Hielscher, Daniel Perraudin und Jeanne Bussmann. The answers will again be given in randomly drawn teams. Whether quiz newcomer or serial winner, everyone has a good chance of winning the top places and a great prizes.

For the gift table you can give your presents to Lucas Fonts or bring them to the quiz in the evening.

The Stammtisch in September takes place a little earlier than usual, but there are special guests. Heike Schnotale and Max Lotze of the venerable Offizin Haag-Drugulin from Dresden are coming.
