Riley Black has written a ton for Smithsonian over the years, has her own blog, and has written so many amazing books, most of which I already own and have read. Of all of those, the two I recommend the most would be The Last Days of the Dinosaurs and When the Earth was Green. But for most people, I highly recommend last year's The Shortest History of the Dinosaurs. It tells the whole story in a wonderful way, is chock-full of paleo facts, and highlights the work of real scientists making fascinating discoveries. You can find all of these on bookshop.org, btw!
Anyway... yeah, check it out and pre-order if you're interested, or maybe get one of her previous books instead if it appeals to you more!
As always, I'm not being paid for this plug, I just really love Riley Black, she's my favorite paleontologist (if one can even HAVE such a thing), and I love the way she writes. I like her work, like, a normal amount. It's not like I buy all her books and obsessively follow her on BlueSky or anything...
