Interesting article on youth player development between USA and mostly Germany. The statement about coach ability and player self motivation being a factor in coaches evaluations is something I’ve said so many times my ears bleed from it yet over and over I see kids left behind by clubs that only look at speed and aggressiveness. I would rather have a kid with a high soccer IQ, ball control and distribution sense in most positions than the super fast one directional player. Yet I see clubs promote speed and aggression all day long and leave what would be really strong all around player behind.
