I really like Maksum’s pivot to the inside+jab counter when Nam tries to jab. It’s not flashy or super powerful but it’s one of the most annoying strikes to deal with. Also like Nam’s inside leg kick.

Tyson Nam stops Ode Osbourne in the 1st!

Counters a flying knee attempt from Ode with a big overhand right hand and puts Osbourne away. Surprised Nam was the underdog for this one. I like Ode but his game is all change-ups and big “catch opponents off guard” moves, like those flying knees. Nam is a limited fighter but he’s still a functional one with a ton of experience and some dynamite in his hands. Remember, this is the guy who stopped Eduardo Dantas when he was Bellator champion.

Matt Schnell takes split decision over Tyson Nam

Schnell turns in the best performance of his career thus far by our boxing Tyson Nam off the back foot. Nam came forward behind the hooks and over hands and Schnell did a good job of rolling shots or pivoting off at an angle and landing 3-4 punch counters. Nam got better as the fight went on at landing the lead hook, evidenced by how he won the 3rd. Really wish Nam would add more of what we saw in the last 10 seconds of the fight where he backed Schnell to the cage and just shoulder tackled him backwards so he could land the follow up shot. Would make him like 50% more effective and force guys to exchange with him for fear of being backed to the cage.
