tyv!error doesn't think of herself as "error". i call her that for simplicity's sake but she thinks of herself as "sans" on the rare occasion she actually remembers what her name is. She assigns other monsters nicknames based on their au/some characteristic of theirs but never gave herself one. Her nickname "error" comes from swap calling her that (again for simplicity sake, and also bc they were a little indignant about being nicknamed blueberry by her) and she gets very annoyed when she's called that.

This isn't really unique to error though, she's just the meanest about it. Others understand when there's like- 5 of the same person in a room calling them all the same thing gets super confusing super fast.
