The boundaries between fiction and reality get really blurry with wwtd, which is so trippy and I LOVE it. It's such a cool interactive fiction and you're awesome.
fdlakjsfdalsfm thANK YOU
The thing about wwtd is I never wanted stuff to go two dimensional out of any sort of “well but this is an ask blog so it would run smoother if ford just accepted if someone knows stan’s name” or gliding over details to ignore the 4th wall or anything like that
At the end of the original run, there were some asks that dropped the lines of calling them fictional (which connected some pretty clear dots). it’s something that well- had an effect.
No matter what, they are fictional to us, but obviously they’re not fictional to themselves -- and it’s come to this... point i kind of really like with ford’s recent post.
“I don’t care if there happens to be some fictional story within your dimension. This dimension exists. We exist. We’re real, regardless of your dimension.”
It’s a solid and confident stance. i wish i had better words to actually talk about it because there’s something in thing that i really love. maybe how unshakable it feels? maybe bc with string theory and infinite dimension even i can believe what he’s saying is true? and i mean let’s be real? there’s nothing you can do to prove i’m not just siphoning our dimension’s together and just pretending i’m actually writing them so
and this whole boundary of reality vs fiction has actually come up with a lot of the unintentional conflicts and consequences with asks.
one example i’ll give is... the sort of general nature of some asks during the original session to be fully confident behind stan/stan’s ideas while ford/ford’s ideas were more often questioned and doubted. great for stan. wound up with ford expecting the opposition. this was what led to him taking pictures of the portal schematics in secret before burning them - though the whole expecting opposition to his ideas was heavily exacerbated by both askers AND stan/fidds during the taser incident not long before the portal schematic pic.
heck there’s been a lot of stuff, which i’ll probably analyze or talk about after the summer session (since stuff is is still in play rn). i’m sure this will have its own moment of discussion on the blog itself before the end of the summer session
