Hey @julietteandthejet , have you seen the Dragon Ladies they landed on carriers in the Sixties?

The CIA was looking for ways top improve the Dragon Lady's range, so they worked with the Navy on Operation WHALE TAIL to test the U-2's ability to land on and launch from a carrier. The idea worked well enough that several U-2As had arresting hooks added. CIA pilots used the modified U-2Gs to qualify for carrier operations, though only one operational sortie is known to have been carried out: a flight through the falloutof a French nuclear test. The later, larger U-2R kept the hook, and the outer parts of the wings could fold up. During testing on the America, the Lady was even lowered on the elevator and maneuvered into the hangar deck.
