do you have any sea/ocean documentaries you recommend :)? also what is ur fav sea creature i must know
oh i have many many many many lol (also this is like... 6 months late sry u_u) theyre also mostly antarctic/deep sea based? huh.
antarctica - encounters at the end of the world (yt link)
the secrets of antarctica (yt link) <== the narrator has a very american accent in this one and its very over dramatized but still has a lot of cool stuff
and natural world facts on yt has a bunch (like. A LOT.) of cool deep sea doccumentaries as well! (yt link)
OH AND ALSO! a while back my friend gave me a dvd set that the herald sun made and it has a good one on cetaceans and how theyre struggling with encroaching humans and stuff (yt link) (warning that it does have whale death in it that plays a pretty big role)
im trying to think of the other ones that are really good from memory lol, a lot of the time with ocean doccumentaries (espeacially with deep sea or antarctic ones) theres a lot of fear mongering and over dramatization and it just kinda falls flat when you just think about it for 2 secconds lol.
and they go and talk about ''''OH! this is the terrifying, fanged whats-a-call-it that lives deep in the deepest reaches of the ocean where no light penetrates and makes its living by devouring the souls of their unsuspecting prey whole'''' like mate. its an anglerfish. im sure youve also devoured a hamburger in a simular fashion and yet im not calling you an ungodly monster??
and also! another thing is that a lot of deep sea specific doccos will show specimens that have been brought up from depth and depressurised/dying and then present it as how it is in their normal environment?? the bbc is rly bad with this lol. thats also why watching live streamed/recordings of rov dives are so fun cause you get to see the whole picture of what it is like plus! all the stuff like sponges and tunicates that they choose to ignore in favour of like. penguins and fish and stuff.
anyway ive got lots and lots of favourites lol but right now? its probably Marseniopsis mollis :3
