~Winter Studying Challenge~
Day 7: how do you stay motivated during winter?
I try to keep what I need to do for sunlight hours cause that is when I’m most productive. I also give myself a lot of free time to relax so I don’t feel guilty about working or that all I do is work.

All things Hawk Pike…
Age: 28 years old Occupation: Firefighter Birthdate: 21st of March 1991 Sexuality: Up to Roleplayer Gender: Male Neighborhood: Bayonne How long they’ve lived in Hallow Grove: Hallow Grove Native Faceclaim: Zeeko Zaki Character Status: Open
History
Hawk wasn’t born in Hallow Grove. In fact, Hawk wasn’t even born Hawk. His name upon birth had been Sidney. Last name unknown. But if you asked him about where he was from, he’d tell you Hallow and nothing else because nothing in his life mattered before then. Hawk was given up as a baby. Dropped on the steps of a fire station with nothing but a blanket and a note that said “My name is Sidney” in the shittiest chicken scratch ever. He wasn’t even dropped off inside. Just left outside for the station to be found by the firefighters who worked there.
He bounced around from foster home to foster home. The longest he’d stayed in one home had been 3 months, until he was 9 years old. It was at 9 years of age that he finally found his way to Marielle Pike. Marielle had a habit of taking in troubled youth and straightening them out. She only took older children, preferably before they reached puberty, because she felt they needed her the most. Most of the kids that came through Marielle’s door went on to be adopted. None stayed for more than three years. Not because they weren’t welcome, but because Marielle felt she had done everything she could do with the child and they needed a family and not just a home.
However, when Sidney came along she knew he’d be a tough one. She could see it by the look in his eyes alone. He was jaded, and didn’t trust worth a damn. When she asked him his name he didn’t respond. Rather, he just looked at the ground. When his social worker tried to answer for him, Marielle cut her off informing her she’d been speaking to him and not her. Marielle then crouched down in front of Sidney and after a long moment of just staring at the child she said something that would stick with him. “You don’t have to tell me your name. Because today you’re getting a new name. I’m going to call you Hawk.” When Hawk finally graced her with his eyes, she asked, “You mind if I call you Hawk?” The boy shook his head indicating he didn’t mind. “Well Hawk, your old name is apart of your old life, and just like your old name you need to let it go and move forward.”
Hawk hadn’t realized the weight she’d lifted off his shoulders that day until he was much older. Marielle had a way at looking at life that made it seem magical. Like every breath was precious. She brought optimism to a child who saw none, and spent days changing the way he viewed the world but never tried to change him. And when he hit puberty two years later, she offered him something she’d never offered any child before. Marielle offered to adopt Hawk. Following through on the offer when he accepted. His adoption certificate became one of his most prized possessions. In it they legally changed his name from Sidney to Hawk Pike. Hawk has the certificate framed on his wall. Like a someone would have pictures of diploma or something.
Being adopted made him an official member of the pack Marielle belonged to. He watched how the alphas within the Mitchell pack acted and emulated their behaviors. Often times this managed to get Hawk into trouble. Especially when it came to fighting, something Hawk was good at before and only got better at as he got older. Which became a rather large problem ended with a fallen wolf who never got back up, and with a parking lot full of witnesses there was no way that Hawk wasn’t going to prison.
With his previous offenses, Hawk was sentenced with five years for involuntary manslaughter, but got out in three due to good behavior. During his time in prison, Hawk learned many things about himself. One being how to settle his anger and impulsive side. He took up drawing and art classes. Art had always been an outlet for him since he was never any good at formal education matters. He also took EMS courses. The EMS had been something his lawyer suggested. Said it would directly contradict the idea that he was killer and that it would look good.
Something about it stuck with him since one of the first things Hawk did once he was out, aside from the usual suspects, was join the fire academy. The man also took more of an interest in his hometown and community matters. Doing whatever he could to support his friends and his mom. Having been away for three years really showed him how much he missed them, as well as how much he wanted to care for the people he cared about in anyway he could.
After graduating from the fire academy, Hawk was earnest to get a job in Hallow Grove. It took him longer than he wanted, but shorter than he would have expected being a convict. Part of that due to his EMS certificate, and another he thought due to him being from Hallow Grove. A fact that earned him the trust of his chief, and gained him a probationary chance. He was happy either way. When he isn’t working a shift at the fire house, he can be found doing a tattoo in his spare room of his apartment, shooting at the gun range, or helping his mom. Tattooing became another way to continue his art. He doesn’t charge for it, instead he takes favors. Though he may seem a bit more straight-laced, Hawk would still do something stupid or illegal, especially for those he loves or considers important. Even if it meant he’d be back in prison.

Time in London: Four Months Faceclaim: Evan Peters Character Quote: “You don’t need a new day to start over, you only need a new mindset.”
BIOGRAPHY
From as long as Sawyer can remember, he felt responsibility to take care of others. At the age of only two years old, his parents had another child. His little sister, who became Sawyer’s favorite person in the world. He knew from the a young age that he wanted to protect her the best that he could. When Sawyer was thirteen years old, his parents got divorced. But why? At such a young age, he didn’t understand the difficulty of a relationship. Of a marriage, and all of the aspects that went into it. To a thirteen year old boy and a eleven year old girl, it just looked like their parents didn’t love each other anymore. It was worked out into a long custody battle, but eventually Sawyer was old enough to decide who he wanted to live with. He chose to live wherever his sister was, so she would know she wasn’t going through it alone.
His teenage years were followed up with joint custody, him and his sister spending every other weekend with their father. It made Sawyer give up on any chance of love. But he was just a teenager, he had plenty of time to fall in love. As he got closer to his senior year, he decided he wanted to go to law school and be a lawyer like his mother. Law school wasn’t cheap, and Sawyer knew that. He worked as hard as he could to get good grades, but he was already top in his class a the time. Between his grades and his mother reaching out to her old school, it wasn’t long before Sawyer had a scholarship to Harvard in his mailbox.
This meant that for two years, he and his sister would have to live in different states. It was one of the hardest decisions Sawyer ever made, but how wrong could life go in two years, right? That’s what he told himself. She would be fine, he would fly home for weekends and holidays when he could. So he packed up his things, making the move from New York to Massachusetts. He finally found a place where he felt like he fit in. There was no fighting, no responsibilities except the ones he wanted, and people who understood him. For the first couple years, things went great. Or, so he thought. When his sister graduated college, she followed him to Harvard. Suddenly his perfect life was even more so now that he had his sister by his side. The two of them were the power team of Harvard at the time. Known for how smart they both actually were, not for their mother. Once Sawyer finished pre-law, he made his way to actual law school. He was still attending the same school, so he could still spend tons of time with his sister. As far as relationships went, Sawyer had plenty of flings, but nothing ever stuck. He was too busy with school work, and mainly too busy avoiding getting his heart broken because he was still traumatized from his parents divorce.
Then came the night that changed everything. Sawyer had never been a huge partier, but there was a huge party on campus that everyone was talking about. As usual, he ignored it and decided to spend the night studying. A few hours in, he got a call that his sister was in a fight at the party. By the time he rushed over there, Sawyer found her in a fight with her boyfriend at the time. After breaking up the fight, he took his sister and they made their way home. He thought he had saved her from something terrible happening, but as the two of them started fighting in the car, he could see something terrible had already been going on. They were almost home when another car hit them. The car ran a red light and smashed right into Sawyer’s car on the passenger side.
The next thing he knew, he was waking up in the hospital being told he was lucky to be alive. He has a fusion in his back because his spine was broken during the accident. And that was the best of the news. His sister had died immediately on impact. And that, that was the moment Sawyer his entire body go numb. Just like that, in one split second, his sister was gone. A week after the accident, he was finally allowed to go home. His back injuries were too serious for him to go home any sooner. He could tell a difference immediately, that he’d never be the same. He’d never be able to stand up for insanely long periods of time without medication, which he couldn’t work on. In that moment, life felt pointless to him as he had planned it. He had lost his sister, probably his ability to stand in court during long trials if he needed to. So Sawyer walked into the Harvard administration’s office and withdrew himself from the university. He couldn’t do it, and he didn’t want to. Life as he knew it was over.
He went to his dorm, packed up everything he actually needed into a suitcase, and made his way to the airport. He wasn’t going home to New York, that probably would be worse. He wanted out of the country completely. His first thought was to go see his cousins in London, and that’s what he did. Sawyer sat at the airport until the next flight to London was available.
He’s now living with his cousin until he can get an apartment of his own, and sort something out for a job. To him, law school is completely out of the picture. He always had a hobby painting, so he’s considered opening up an art gallery, but he doesn’t know what he’s going to do yet. The only thing he absolutely knows is that he has to start over.

Incongruous to the rest of the town’s rustic architecture, Jamie’s house is a modern monstrosity, with large windows overlooking an even larger garden. It sticks out like a sore thumb amidst the Church Lane cul-de-sacs.
Though he reluctantly attempts to get along with his siblings, Jamie bears an unwavering hatred for his parents, whom have done nothing but spoil and disappoint him his entire life.
His efforts to bridge the void dismantling his relationship with his brothers and sisters are futile, given the fact that, having been his grandfather’s favourite since the age of twelve, Jamie has inherited the largest sum of money (out of the six that were calculated) after Rhys Callaghan’s passing.
From Dublin to London, Paris and New York, Jamie has spent his life living in big cities, and has now retired to the countryside for some peace and quiet. He doubts, however, that he’ll find any, given the fact that he seems cursed to perpetually leave a trail of bread crumbs for chaos to follow.
Given his upper class privilege, Jamie has experimented with all kinds of drugs during his private school education; though he now claims to abhor them, cocaine will forever have a special place in his heart. It was the drug that helped his first male lover realise just how attracted he was to Jamie, and vice versa.
His favourite book is Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, a fact that shall be taken to his grave.

All things Landon Isaac Raleigh...
Age: 28 years old Occupation: Trainer Birthdate: 25th of April 1990 Sexuality: Up to Roleplayer Gender: Male Neighborhood: Marseille How long they’ve lived in Hallow Grove: November of 2007 Faceclaim: Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Negotiable) Character Status: Open
History
Landon Isaac, preferring to be called Landon since his first name is a mouthful, is an outsider. He always has been and is fairly certain he will always remain one. Part of this feeling was caused by Landon’s being mildly autistic. As smart and as normal as he may seem, his inability to pick up on social cues made for many people to find him strange and a person to be avoided. Things like sarcasm, social norms, vocal inflections, and facial expressions were all a foreign language to him, and unless you told him exactly what you meant there was no way for him to catch on. Then there was the added fact of him not being from town to begin with.
Landon was born in Brisbane, Australia. And though he barely spent much time in the country as a child, he never lost the accent. His mother and father separated before he was born. Leaving his mother alone to raise him on her own. Not able to afford the cost of living in Brisbane on a single income especially after Landon was diagnosed with autism any longer, Landon’s mother had to move back home to Fort Wayne, Indiana with her parents.
The move went as good as it could for as long as it could. However, in between Landon’s mother’s desire to be on her own again and the constant fighting Landon seemed to be getting into as he got older it was no wonder the good eventually turned bad.Granted the fighting wasn’t entirely his fault, but when you managed to win every fight you got into regardless of whether or not you started it, it tended to leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. It was Landon’s last fight in Fort Wayne that created the circumstances that forced him and his mother to move to Hallow Grove. During the fight he had been so blinded by rage that he nearly beat a kid to death. Upon being arrested and having his hands registered as legal deadly weapons, he and his mother were given the choice to leave town or be tried as an adult.
Hallow Grove hadn’t been the families original destination when moving. It was merely a town they were passing through. Though what made the two stay was what they learned while there. Landon’s mother had heard it to be a very accepting town of those who are different and everything she had seen there lead her to believe it to be true. The icing on the cake and what solidified her decision to stay was a job opening as a hairstylist at the salon in town. She wanted nothing more than for her boy to be accepted, and with a possible job in a town that seemed open and endearing, she had no doubts in her move.
Settling in didn’t seem hard, especially since Landon kept to himself for the most part. The exception being his taking refuge at the local gym. But after a year of hardly branching out Landon’s mother finally pushed him to spread his wings. Little did she know what the town she’s pushing her son into had a family who held a great deal of interest in Landon and his fighting abilities.
There are two things that still remain true of Landon’s life. One, Landon still remains an enigma to many of the people of Hallow Grove. Two, he still lives with his mother even though he no longer needs to do so. Though he has grown close to a few members in town, most of which he has met through his daily routine from his morning coffee to his favorite lunch spot. Then of course there are the patrons of the local gym he went from attending frequently to now training at. He teaches both fighting and physical fitness classes, and has managed to amass a small following of frequent customers. One of those members being Charlie Blanc, a man Landon trusts implicitly though he probably shouldn’t.
