Today was the day of the fashion show, which I was DSM for. This meant that I had to leave working on Oh What A Lovely War and focus on the Fashion show. We planned to have a tech rehearsal in the morning so that Jake could get all of the lighting states and Matt could get all of the sound cues. After had done the tech rehearsal we had lunch and then we planned to have two dress rehearsals, which would be run jointly by myself and John.
During the the dress rehearsal it was my job to cue both Jake and Matt when there was a lighting change or a sound cue which involved turning the band up or turning them down. The first dress rehearsal went ok but we were unable to finish it because the running order became confusing, because the tech team had one running sheet whilst the designers had another one. This lead to a break down in communication which resulted in me and John agreeing to stop the rehearsal to iron out any problems. All of the designers, technicians and models sat down and decided on a definitive running order that would be stuck to and not changed. In this meeting the ASMs (Dean and Ross) brought up the speed at which the designers were walking on and off stage. They felt that it was too slow and needed to be a bit faster. It was decided that the ASMs would tell the actors when to go on stage. In addition to this it was also decided the models had to use the entirety of the stage and not just walk up the middle stop at the end for a second and go back down again.
After this meeting we attempted to do a second dress rehearsal but it appeared that some of the stuff we had discussed had not been carried out and the dress was put to a hault and the designers took over. Over dinner I walked around the stage with the ASMs and we taped down any lose cabling and put marks on the floor that represented a no go area. Once we had done this we went on dinner.
The show went out in the evening and I felt it went very well despite at the end were there had been a break down in communication and we didn't know that all of the designers were going to be coming down the stairs at the end of the show.
