Disney Uses 300 Intel Drones to Make U.S. Light Show History
The Walt Disney World resort in Florida has recently made history. They took 300 Intel Shooting Star drones and used this advanced technology to innovate the traditional light show at their resort. This technological advancement is a true achievement that will help improve the holiday season for kids of all ages this December.
The name of their latest innovation is called “Starbright Holidays, An Intel Collaboration” and this exciting drone-based light show kicked off the holiday season on November 20th with two shows; one at 7:30 PM and one at 8:30 PM. They will continue to host more shows all throughout the holidays.
Teaming up with Intel Corporation, Disney is known for its innovative ways to reimagine some of our favorite stories. This synchronized light show utilizes Intel Shooting Star drones and provides guests of the resort with an incredible way to enjoy these beautiful holiday themed lights.
By teaming up with Intel, Disney was capable of turning the sky into their canvas by using cutting-edge drone technology to create a light show that seems to have put everyone in attendance in awe.
Has Disney Mastered Storytelling in the Sky?
Using drone technology as part of their light show is an innovative way to tell stories in the sky. This technology has given Disney the ability to unlock a new way to tell a story that has never been seen before until now.
Believe it or not, the Disney movie Tangled has an iconic scene that initially inspired the Starbright Holidays drone light show. Within this scene in the movie, the kingdom of Corona had thousands of floating lanterns lighting up the night sky. The brilliant people at Disney recognized that they could actually make this scene a reality if they used drones to their advantage.
Not long after, they teamed with Intel to create this powerful scene in real life for all to enjoy this holiday season. Disney Imagineers took their creativity to new heights when they developed a desire to bring the scene to life. One member of the team had heard about Intel’s success in regard to the Intel Drone 100 show and the amazing records that it set. They saw the amazing potential and realized that collaborating with Intel could create an entertaining and innovative new show for Disney theme parks.
As you can see, the rest is history. And now we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor in the form of Starbright Holidays, An Intel Collaboration.
