Nihilego (#793)
Nihilego
Aetheroceanus nihilego
General Information: Nihilego is the first Ultra Beast ever discovered by humans on this side of the multi-verse. When Ultra Wormholes open up without direction, they often lead to the Sea of Nothing. This creature or Pokémon or Ultra Beast or whatever you want to call it, is capable of parasitizing human and Pokémon hosts alike by injecting a powerful neurotoxin into them. This neurotoxin turns off your inhibitions (by converting your fears and anxieties into happy-inducing experiences) and activating your inner potential to its maximum. Someone possessed by a Nihilego is a fearsome foe, and the Nihilego has sometimes been known to morph with its host into something new together.
But why does the Nihilego do this? Food and self-preservation. Should one be separated from the Nihilego (a bond that it can sever at anytime it chooses), the shock of separation and the lingering neurotoxin will leave you ill for a couple days. This is not fatal, just extremely unpleasant. The best way to prevent getting parasitized, is to simply not let a Nihilego get too close to you.
The Parasite Ultra Beast/Pokémon averages at 3’11 feet (1.2 M) tall and weighs about 122.4 pounds (55.5 kg), which is incredibly heavy for something that seemingly-floats through the Sea of Nothing.
Habitat: Nihilego are the only native species to the Sea of Nothing, and can only natively be found there. When they leak out of the Sea of Nothing, they quickly become an invasive species.

Behavior: Nihilego free float/swim through the Sea of Nothing, drifting mindlessly until they spot prey. They do not seem to be aggressive toward each other. If there is a courtship between them, no one has seen any sign of it.
Surprisingly, not all Nihilego act as mindless parasites. Some have been known to aid lost humans who fall through Ultra Wormholes. This suggests higher intelligence capable of compassion, empathy, and higher reasoning—which makes it all the more brutal when many individuals choose to parasitize you for food.
The more aggressive Nihilego are capable of not just merging with their host, but fully encapsulating them in a bubble made of themselves to prevent the host from escaping. This is typically highly effective.
Diet: Nihilego feed by latching onto creatures that fall into the Sea of Nothing from Ultra Wormholes, and perhaps whatever else may be living there by happenstance. They do this by latching onto them and slowly draining them of energy. However, a Nihilego does not kill its victim/host, instead it can/will completely take over its host and control it so that the host may continue to survive and thus nourishing the Nihilego.

Relationship with Humans: Nihilego are mysterious creatures that superficially resemble jellyfish from Earth. There is a charm, grace, and elegance to the Nihilegos that may appeal to human travelers, which has captured more than one human and Pokémon into its parasitic grip.
Perhaps one of only a handful of true predators of humanity, the Nihilego are to be feared and kept wary of. Yes, not all are foes and many are friends, but its best to never let your guard down until you’re safely out of the Sea of Nothing.
Classification: The Nihilego are a single species in their own entire branch of the Tree of Life. From domain down, they are the sole member of Aetheroceana, a name that roughly means, “the aether ocean.” While there are other creatures with superficial resemblances in the multi-verse, there is truly nothing else like Nihilegos.
