Can Uber drivers tell when you rate them bad?
Since starting to use uber last September, I have only scored drivers 5 stars, since they were safe enough to get me wherever I was going, and I don’t want people to lose their jobs. (Once, I was in a shitty uber at 1am, but my friend booked it, and rated 3 stars, so I didn’t have to worry.)
However, today, I was on the way to my exam, and this guy literally darted through parked cars really fast, and wasn’t really paying attention to other cars. I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt, but then when we stopped by red lights, he took his phone from the dashboard(?), and started scrolling on social media (the video audio was linked to the car so I could hear it and he was def doom scrolling). For the rest of the drive, he continued to doom scroll, whilst driving, but he had his phone on his lap. This lead him to not slow down or look at a crossing, where school children were crossing, and I genuinely thought for a moment that he was going to hit these three girls (there were about 10 to 13 I think).
Obviously, I rated this guy 3 stars, and clicked on the options that were like ‘distracted by phone’ and then something like ‘fast driving’.
Anyway, I don’t look at my score (or at least don’t pay attention), but I was fiddling around after getting an uber back home, and I have 4.80 stars…? Now, I haven’t really checked since the first two months when I had 5 stars, so maybe I just didn’t notice it, but now I’m just a bit paranoid that he noticed I pressed the buttons to complain about him (didn’t write a specific note tho, just the given options), and didn’t like it? Is that allowed?
Does rating even matter that much? Idk. I guess I’m just so much of a perfectionist that I’m worried I’ve only got 4.8 stars lol.
(Background: I’m autistic, and have therapy for my health anxiety and anxiety disorder, and whilst I often use buses, they are very stressful for me, so I take Ubers to and from my exams as one less thing to worry about. Idk if Uber is on a protest list thingy, so I’m sorry for not boycotting it, please do not get annoyed at me for that.)
