The package that sat in front of her was only slightly suspicious. It was too early for Christmas and her birthday was nowhere close. She’d inspected the present, shaking it and turning it over and over until she was no closer to figuring out what it was.
At least it was obviously addressed to her, and without many friends or even acquaintances throughout the island, the culprit was clear. Nat certainly would get her something early and just leave it on her chest while she was sleeping.
So it would only make sense to just open it now.
Having convinced herself (the only person she needed to convince), Jessica ripped off the wrapping paper to find a letter sitting on top of an all too familiar costume. Her first instinct made her think of Trish and as she read the letter, the anger that flared up morphed to confusion and then she began to smile.
She stood up from her make shift bed and stretched. The air seemed to shimmer for a moment as if reality was passing through some sort of filter. She even picked up the costume again, and jokingly draped it against her figure.
Of course. Only for the door to her apartment to open to a very amused redhead.
“So. This is so not what it looks like.”
