For the first time in awhile, Jace felt at peace. He couldn't remember the last time he had actually went to a party and enjoyed himself without having to leave early because the alcohol wasn't doing its job. Tonight he actually felt free, like he could do anything and not have to worry about the consequences when he sobered up in the morning. He guessed that with few more drinks in his system, he'd barely be able to remember his own name. That was the only thing he was looking forward to tonight. He just wanted to forget it all for awhile.
His plan was working well until he heard a familiar voice behind him which caused him to freeze and look for the closest exit. If he was sober he could have gotten away, but he could barely walk in a straight line at this point and all he knew that he was trapped. It would only be a matter of time before she saw him and he wasn't drunk enough to talk to her. He would never been drunk enough to talk to her and after that night at his apartment, he had been doing his best to avoid her until now.
Deciding that he should man up for once when it came to their relationship, Jace took a deep breath and turned towards the younger girl, a small smile on his lips. "Marilyn," he murmured a few moments later. "Well, it's-it's nice to see you again."
