   he’d   lingered   for   most   of   the   night :       years   had   passed   since   suigetsu   actively   celebrated   anything   and   the   desire   to   do   so   was   not   strong   ,     but   here   he   was   regardless   ,     and   with   minimal   complaint   to   boot.   he   figured   that   if   he   was   going   to   revel   in   the   new   year         ---       well   ,     he   would   rather   spend   it   with   the   people   he   gave   a   shit   about.  

by   all   means   ,     uchiha   sasuke   should   not   find   his   place   on   that   list.   he   isn’t   notorious   for   giving   second   chances.   he’d   never   (     externally     )   had   a   solid   justification   for   following   him   ,     and   still   suigetsu   had   let   himself   lurch   after   sasuke   through   so   much   turbulence   that   the   swordsman   wasn’t   sure   he   could   shake   him   off   if   he   tried.   it’s   almost   spiteful.   almost.   so   while   he   certainly   enjoys   the   bustle   of   the   street   party   they   are   lost   in   ,     he   never   strays   all   too   far   from   his   side   ,     and   there’s   an   arm   slung   leisurely   around   him   when   the   count   down   he   had   not   anticipated   quite   so   soon   begins   to   sound.

his   movements   are   as   contrived   as   most   tend   to   be   ,     eager  gaze   upon   the   other   kindled   by   the   fleeting   idea   he   latches   onto.   he’s   already   close   ,     free   hand   moving   to   lay   hold   of   sasuke’s   cheek.   to   draw   him   closer   ,   to   catch   his   eye   with   a   fusion   of   forewarning   and   daring   invitation.   for   all   of   suigetsu’s   usual   flooding   impulsivity   ,     there   is   plenty   of   notice   given   in   his   smirk   before   lips   can   brush   against   the   other’s   to   the   distant   sound   of   bells.
