• prompt: “please don’t leave me like that ever again. it scared me”
• warnings: alcohol consumption
You, Paige, and the rest of the UConn team had decided to go to a party to celebrate a win after a particularly hard game.
The night had started with Paige at your side the entire time, her not allowing you to go out of her sight as the party was at a frat house and she didn’t want anything to happen to you.
But as the night when on and the two of you ingested more than enough alcohol, you both drifted away from each other. “Paige!” you called, tapping her shoulder trying to get her attention over the loud music.
“Yeah?” she turned her head around, stopping the middle of her conversation with KK.
“I’m gonna go see my friends, ok?” you pointed in the direction of you friends, who just waved back at the two of you.
“Ok, be safe,” she smiled patting the small of your back before you walked off to your group of friends.

Several hours passed after you made your way over to your friends. All of you had been on the couch sharing random stories that made no sense to all of you guys being intoxicated. Y’all’s laughter was loud, even when nothing funny seemed to be happening.
“Oh my God, and then I was like—,” you started to go tell a meaningless story, but were cut off by your favorite blonde drunkenly walking over to you.
“Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you everywhere,” she draped herself over you, her arms squeezing your waist like she never wants to let you go. And once she pulled back you could see the faint tear marks that stained her cheeks.
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” you sat up in the couch and pulled her down to sit beside you. Your delicate fingers came to the blondes cheeks as you wiped away the excess tears that lingered there.
“Please don’t leave me like that ever again. It scared me,” Paige wrapped herself against you, almost like she wanted to be in your skin so you wouldn’t be able to leave her. “I didn’t know where you were, and me and KK couldn’t find you anywhere,” she grabbed your legs and put them over her own as she made you scoot closer to her.
“I won’t,” you nodded your head, your hand coming to her jaw as you placed a soft kiss against her forehead. “I’m sorry I scared you.”
“I was scared something happened to you,” her hand squeezed your waist.
“I’m ok baby,” you reassured her, “Do you wanna go?”
“Yeah,” she nodded her head and your hand came up to push some of her blood hair behind her ear.
“Ok,” you whispered before standing up and then pulling Paige off the couch with you. “We’re gonna head out,” you told your friends as Paige’s hands snaked around your waist, her head falling on your shoulder.
As the two of you walked through the frat house, Paige’s body was being held up by her leaning on you. Out of the two of you, you were definitely the one more sober, as Paige could barely carry herself.
“Imma call an Uber,” you told her as you pulled out your phone and sat the two of you down on the sidewalk.
“I hated being away from you,” Paige rested her head on your shoulder, as her hands took one of yours in her own. “Please don’t ever leave.”

"Mommy when is Mama coming back", Livvy complained as you put the cookie tray in the oven. It was currently christmas eve and You + Livvy were currently making Cookies. "Um soon sweetie, she had a unexpected practice tonight", You said turning to the two year old.
“Practice on Christmas Eve?” Livvy pouted, her little eyebrows furrowing as she swung her tiny legs from her spot on the counter. “That’s not fair!”
You smiled softly, wiping your hands on a dish towel before walking over to her. Picking her up gently, you balanced her on your hip. “I know, baby. But Mama’s working hard so she can play her best. And she promised she’d be home soon, remember?”
Livvy’s pout softened slightly, though she still clung to you, her little arms wrapping around your neck. “She better be home for Santa.”
“She wouldn’t miss Santa for anything,” you reassured her, pressing a kiss to her temple.
As the smell of cookies began to fill the kitchen, you distracted Livvy by helping her roll out more dough and cut festive shapes—stars, snowflakes, and trees. Just as you placed the second tray in the oven, the sound of the front door unlocking echoed through the house.
“Merry Christmas Eve, family!” Paige’s familiar voice rang out, followed by the thud of her bag hitting the floor.
Livvy gasped dramatically, scrambling off her stool and running toward the front door as fast as her tiny legs could carry her. “Mama!”
Paige crouched down just in time to scoop Livvy up into her arms, spinning her around before pressing playful kisses all over her face. “There’s my girl! Were you good while I was gone?”
Livvy giggled, her pout from earlier long forgotten. “We made cookies!”
“Cookies?” Paige raised an eyebrow as she stood, carrying Livvy toward the kitchen. “Without me?”
You smiled, leaning against the counter. “Someone had to hold down the fort while you were off being a superstar.”
Paige grinned as she set Livvy down and walked over to you, immediately pulling you into a warm hug. “Missed you,” she murmured softly, kissing your cheek.
“Missed you too,” you whispered back, letting the warmth of the moment wash over you.
“Mommy said Santa’s coming soon!” Livvy interjected, tugging on Paige’s sleeve.
Paige turned back to her, eyes wide with faux surprise. “He is? Then I better hurry and help with those cookies. Santa’s going to need them after flying all night!”
With a laugh, you all settled into the cozy rhythm of decorating cookies together Livvy smearing frosting on everything while Paige stole bites of dough when she thought you weren’t looking. By the time the cookies were finished and Livvy was fast asleep under the twinkling glow of the Christmas tree, Paige wrapped her arms around you from behind.
“Thank you for holding it all together tonight,” she whispered, her voice soft.
You smiled, turning in her embrace to meet her gaze. “You’re here now. That’s all that matters.”
And as the snow quietly fell outside, the two of you stood there in the warmth of your home, knowing that this—love, laughter, and a sleepy two year old was the perfect Christmas gift.
