Are you looking for a SUMMER JOB?  Then check out WONDERSPACES, a curatorial art experience to be held in San Diego.   https://www.wonderspaces.com/ Rebecca Webb (former ArtPower Film Curator) is Executive Director of WonderSpaces and she's looking to hire students for the 2.5 month period. The roles will require availability of at least 12 hours per week (no more than 40) in the following shifts for the months of June and July 2017:  Tuesday thru Thursday Shifts:  10am–4pm & 4pm–9pm Friday & Saturdays Shifts:  10am–4pm & 4pm–11pm Sunday Shifts:  10am–3pm & 3pm–8pm They will be interviewing within these next two weeks and will share information with the interviewees about exact scheduling. There will be different shifts - daytime, nighttime, afternoon, weekends. Students could definitely work these shifts in conjunction with school load. A Ship in the Woods is looking for Curatorial Assistants!

They are looking for volunteers on March 17 (next week) on St. Patty's day. in the following areas: 1. Social Media to help promote on FB, Instagram, etc.; 2. Help with install before the event on Friday, March 17; 3. Photography/video; and 4. Docent for the night of the event, to explain projects to guests. Call For Entry at San Diego Art Institute

VIDEO MARATHON DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2017 San Diego Art Institute is inviting artists to submit work for a night of video art supplied by YOU! This one-night screening event takes place on Thursday, March 16, 2017. EVERY video under three minutes will be screened. During the event, jurors will determine which top three videos will be screened on a loop at SDAI for an entire month following the event. Jurors for Video Marathon are SDAI Executive Director and new media curator Ginger Shulick Porcella, SDAI Education Director and video artist Lissa Corona, and Omar Lopex, a filmmaker and artist working in San Diego/Tijuana who employs analog formats to engage strangers in fantastical ways. Show us what you’ve got! To submit work, please email a .mov or link to downloadable VIMEO file to Lissa Corona at [email protected] by 5pm PST on Wednesday, February 15th. Please include a link to your website, and title/year of work. Submissions are limited to one video per artist. Work over three minutes will not be screened. Submissions are FREE sign up HERE.

The Che Cafe has been a hub of self expression for artists, and musicians, both upcoming and established since 1979. If you've ever had the chance to attend an event at the che cafe then you know why this is so fucking horrid. Please, If you know someone who currently attends or has graduated from UCSD ask them to write, and protest in order to keep the che an active part of our community. URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: 

The Che Cafe has been served a 30-day notice of eviction! After being called in for a meeting with no agenda we were informed that our lease was being terminated. More info soon on the specifics behind the University's reasoning, or lack thereof, to come soon. During the meeting Vice-Chancellor Alan Houston noted that the major reason for this decision was a lack of student support.
