A new chapter

The 1350's have arrive and, with that, a new family portrait too! Not only does this commemorate the start of a new decade, but also the start of a new era for the Cooper family as Leofcild has married his love Rosamund and become the new head of the family. With this new step in life comes a lot of responsibility, it's now on Leofcild's shoulders to ensure the family thrives, survives and expands, but right now he's focusing on his new wife, his farm, and his family.

New additions to the portrait this year are Rosamund's parents and younger brother, and Awdry's new husband and his children (more on them soon!).

The matriarch

Ewella has overseen the birth of all her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, but by far the most important one so far is the arrival of baby Gweneviere. After watching her daughter Morwenna go through the heartache of loosing her baby Lucan and her husband Ingram to the plague, the arrival of Gweneviere feels like a sign of changing times.

Merryn joined the Cooper family after her parents passed and her sister, Ewella, adopted her and their brother. She met Ewella's husband's brother, Rowan, and they fell in love. What followed was a life of love and happiness. They had 5 children together, three making it to adulthood, and both Merryn and Rowan have lived long enough to meet their first grandchild, Alysoun. Merryn outlived both her siblings and now leaves behind her adoring husband Rowan, her daughters Tregereth and Lowenna, and her son Breok - who is bringing the love he saw between his parents into his marriage with Belia.

Morwenna was, of course, correct. She was pregnant when Beolin left for war and now she has given birth to their second son, whom she has given her husband's name. In the back of her mind Morwenna knows there's a high chance she will never see her love again, and might tragically loose her second husband, and so she's keeping their sons as close as possible at all times as tiny, babbling reminders of her Beolin.

She wasn't with us long, but she made a big impression. Rest in peace Edonia.

History is repeating itself

Three births in four years has taken it's toll on Edonia. Coupled with the recent loss of her father, it seems her body just couldn't cope and she didn't recover from the birth of her 3rd son. Thankfully she survived long enough to name him Deorsige, after her father Deorsi. Leofcild is certain there's something wrong with him, he has to be the problem somehow. He's been widowed for the second time at just 26 years of age, and now he has to worry about whether his son will make it, or if he'll loose the 3rd heir in a row.

If Leofcild can't provide an heir for his family, he'll try to provide more money for them; that's why he came home from the market the other week with three cows - one ox for working the land and two milk-producing cows whose produce will fit in perfectly at the family grocery stall.

Sadly though, as new animals join a trusty friend leaves. Rest in peace, Mabbe.

The King needs you!

Ivo is jumping at the chance to fight for his king and country, this is exactly the purpose he needed in life! Whereas Beolin is devastated at the thought that he might never again see his love, his daughters and his brand new baby boy. They're now both settling into a bustling, filthy war camp and coming to terms with what this might mean for their futures...
