UFC258
Anthony Hernandez submits 7x BJJ World Champion Rodolfo Vieira in the 2nd!
That was the most tired I’ve ever seen a human being and I watched Dada-Kimbo. After dominating early in the first round with his grappling, Vieira got tuned up. Hernandez landed a cross that put Vieira on skates. Dude was out of it and tired after that. From there Hernandez beat the bricks off of him and even managed to out grapple him for long stretches of time. The 2nd round came along and Hernandez kept it going. Got a nice headkick as a tired Vieira tried to get back to his feet. Then he got a guillotine and Vieira tapped. Wild.
Kamaru Usman stops Gilbert Burns in the 3rd round!
A bizarrely chaotic fight between two of the top welterweights on the planet.
Burns comes out early and drops Usman with an overhand right. Then he spends like 2 minutes of the fight on his back getting kicked in his ass by Usman.
Usman then breaks Burns with like a thousand jabs before connecting with a big cross that sends Burns back into the cage in the 2nd round. Then he proceeds to drop Burns with a jab and pound on him til the round was over.
Comes back in the 3rd round and drops Burns with a jab AGAIN and then pounds him out til the fight is over.
Usman is just that freaking good guys.
Barber pumping the jab from 10 feet away like this is the UFC in 2006!
Alexa Grasso earns the UD over Maycee Barber
Joe Rogan shouldn’t be allowed to call Barber’s fights anymore. Man had blinders on. Grasso tuned up Barber for the better part of the first two rounds. Barber came alive in the third round, charging at Grasso and having success at shutting down Grasso’s offense, though she missed a good amount of what she threw. Fun fight.
Kamaru Usman vs Gilbert Burns is a great fight. Best fight for Usman at WW.
Gastelum vs Heinisch is such a weird match because, paraphrasing the guys at the Heavy Hands podcast, “people break themselves on their athleticism”. Gastelum is good at like 3 or 4 things but can’t seem to take the initiative to get to those spots. Heinisch is good at like one thing but tries to win fights.
Bobby Green vs Jim Miller will be good for a round and then probably sad.
Barber-Grasso will involve Grasso beating the crap out of Barber so either she’ll take a 3-0/2-1 decision or get KOed in like the 3rd when Barber decides to go crazy and blitz.
Simon vs Kelleher is cool.
That is all I really have to say about UFC 258 til it actually happens.
Belal Muhammad dominates Dhiego Lima for a UD win.
Love me some Belal Muhammad. Constant pressure behind combination punching over 15 minutes. Just gave Lima no room to breathe. Lima had some success with the leg kicks but spent the entire fight with his back to the cage trying not to get overwhelmed unsuccessfully. Four straight for Muhammad.
