Alexander Volkanovski dominates Diego Lopes, again! Still UFC FW champion!

Volkanovski, the sport's true great technician wins yet another fight against a big, lumbering aggressive puncher.

I don't even know what to say tbh. The first fight was Volkanovski exploiting the fact that Lopes couldn't stop him from circling to Lopes' left, out of the line of danger. This fight? Lopes tries to switch stances and still fails to cut off the ring but Volk also decides "I'm going to circle into your power hand because you're just not going to hit me with it" and he's 100% correct. Lopes just did not have any adjustments. He tried some of the stuff that worked in the first fight - pressure, the double jab, leg kicks, etc. But he could those tools stripped from him over the course of the fight. Honestly, should have tried to wrestle more. The two times he went for it, he had positive moments. Ending up on top in guard in the 2nd and almost getting the back in the 5th.

As for Volk, honestly felt like he fought this fight worse despite also 50-45ing Lopes. Not sure if it's cause he thought he had a path to a finish but all the stuff he was doing from southpaw...Well, there's a reason he got flash knocked down again. He does that one move from southpaw where he shift into the right hook and it just keeps working. And like I said, he was still able to take away Lopes' tools.

Another win on the back end of Volk's already stellar career. Hopefully the UFC can find the man a fresh match up next. Murphy, Evloev, Zalal, Silva, etc. Somebody new.
