Fun fight at 205. Lots of back and forth. Krylov had some success on the ground and on the feet.

Justin Gaethje KOs Cerrone in the 1st!
That was the least amount of damage I’ve ever seen Gaethje take in a fight. Maybe the Vick fight, but that’s basically it. He looked great despite not really applying the pressure like we’ve seen him do in previous fights. Used his leg kicks to force Cowboy into a boxing match where Cowboy had to close distance. Whenever Cowboy would try to close, Gaethje had big counter combos ready to throw. As Cerrone comes in, Gaethje throws a left hook that pushes Cerrone off balance. Cerrone recovers by throwing the cross from southpaw but Gaethje slips the punch and counters with a right hook that puts Cerrone on his knees. From there, some awkward GnP as Gaethje clearly waits for the ref to stop the fight and it’s over. Amazing performance from Gaethje.
Todd Duffee and Jeff Hughes fight to a no contest
What a mess. Duffee comes out looking to push Hughes into the fence to look for takedowns. Can’t get any to stick so he starts opening up with strikes and hurting Hughes. Hughes swings back and tags Duffee hard a couple times. Hughes uses this exchange to push Duffee into the cage and accidentally pokes him in the eye. The ref gets the doc and Duffee tells him he’s seeing double so the fight is over. Sucks but seems like an appropriate return for the Duffman. Also seems appropriate that it didn’t look like he had gotten much better in the almost 5 years he’s been gone.
Augusto Sakai KOs Marcin Tybura in the 1st!
Holy crap. Right hand rocks Tybura, Sakai flurries, grabs Tybura’s head with the left and starts unleashing hooks and uppercuts with the right. Never expected this for you Sakai when you were having wars on the Bellator prelims in like 2014/15. Notches the biggest and most impressive win of his career and possibly gets himself a top ten match up next.
Sakai is now 3-0 in the UFC
Tristan Connelly takes the UD over Michel Pereira
I have so many thoughts on this one but first off congrats to Connelly for putting the whooping on Pereira. Gotta ask though, why was Pereira a big favorite? If there was ever a fifty fifty fighter, it’s gonna be the man doing actual gymnastic backflips in the cage before the fight even starts after having a bad weight cut. That aside, what a great fight. The absolute best of slop MMA.
Uriah Hall takes a split decision over Antonio Carlos Junior
I think this was Hall’s best performance since his fight in the TUF house. Much more active with his best weapon, the hard jab. Much more pivoting and side steps, leading to more counter opportunities. Though we did see a return of those wide circling that tends to get him in trouble. ACJ was able to use it to push him into the fence a few times and get his back. It wasn’t perfect by any means but I think it was a step in the right direction for where he’s at in his career. ACJ basically had his back for the entirety of the 3rd and Hall had no answer. Same time though, he didn’t panic and give up the sub so that’s something.
