Leap Year
A leap year (also known as an intercalary year or a bissextile year) is a year containing one additional day (or, in the case of lunisolar calendars, a month) added to keep the calendar year synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year. Because seasons and astronomical events do not repeat in a whole number of days, calendars that have the same number of days in each year, drift over time with respect to the event that the year is supposed to track. By inserting an additional day or month into the year, the drift can be corrected.
Leap Day has been associated with age-old traditions and folklore ever since Leap Years were first introduced over 2000 years ago. There are endless amounts of superstition and folklore associated with the so-called “extra day”, especially in the wizarding world. Rumors of changing luck, backwards roles, and even time travel have been passed down from earlier generations.

In order to celebrate this day, Under Fire proposes that a little year-leaping of our own can do our muses good! In honor of this day, we encourage members to start a thread or write a self-para that takes place either in your character’s past or in their future! Remember to please stick to canon timelines for this-- but if you’ve been itching to put your muse through the ringer, get a look at their post-war life, or bring them back to a simpler time...here’s your chance to do it!
OOC Information:
This event lasts from 12:00am CST on October 15th through 11:59pm CST on October 17th. No new starters may be created after that time, although threads may be finished.
Please tag all starters with UFLeapYear. Please also state clearly in the threads title that it is a Leap Year thread, and indicate the date. An opening description would also help your players out a lot!
Remember that this isn’t an AU week type of deal. Your character is just traveling forward or backward on their same, canon timeline. For instance, Sirius would either be in jail or cooped up in Grimmauld Place if he were to move forward.
Chats, paras, self-paras, edits, gifsets, etc. are all welcome! It can also be a fun time to think of past or future FCs for your characters. Happy leaping!
