I hate that I can't trust my parents to actually be good for me now that they're getting better at being parents. I'm still expecting them to scream at me for stupid shit and I'm still preparing to get kicked out even though they've magically stopped. I wish they started off as understanding, willing to communicate, willing to create a relationship that wasn't about the power they had over me but now I only have a few years left with them and they've only now started to improve. I'll be an adult soon, and my formative childhood memories will be abt their fucking shitiness.
