Okay, Høland, since you enjoy bullsh*ting, please enlighten me with some TOTALLY REAL information about steam engines. Like do you have a car horn for example?

"Okay... now I need to remind you guys that this is a family friendly blog and that the asker deserves a serious answer. Though I suspect they might have known that asks about horns would send Høland off on a immature tangent...

Steam engines have whistles, while diesels more commonly have horns. SOME diesels can have whistles too, such as Tinfos, but most of us have horns. Those are often called typhoons and can be quite loud.

There was an attempt on replacing Bingsfos' typhoon with a tram whistle last year, but it was reverted as the whistle required too much air pressure and the driver basically had to choose between having a whistle or having brakes... Not a good option. So, he still has his typhoon."

What is one of your favorite things to do when you guys are not working to whoever wants to answer

"Hibernating!"

"I love to pester the older engines for stories! That's my hobby!"

Everyone is talking about how Prydz and Tinfoss and Setskogen is so pretty and cute and all, but has anyone even looked at Odda? Odda is gorgeous!

Looks like the askbox has been pretty quiet lately.

How's everyone doing?

"It's always a bit quiet at this time of year, months before the driving season starts. We're doing well, just have very little work to do. Bingsfos is repairing the line after a recent flooding, Granfos is waiting for his engine to be overhauled, Tinfos is... probably hiding somewhere or hunting rodents in her shed. Høland is getting an ultrasaound of his boiler so they can renew his boiler certificate, so he's in the workshop with his boiler cladding and insulation stripped off. Setskogen is just waiting for the season to start. Kvabben is keeping Tinfos company. And I am just waiting for a fresh coat of paint before I start working again. How are you doing? Humans tend to have a lot to do in springtime too, don't they?"

Have you ever taken the train? As in rode with a train?

"I have! I've travelled by road, rail and sea! It's pretty common for narrow gauge engines to be transported either by a trailer or by a train when we're moving from one railway to another and there is no rail connection. Høland has also travelled by train, when he went to the Railway Show in 1954."

Do the engines have favorite sports? I know it is kind of hard to play normal people sports, but do they like watching any?

"Not really, we don't get to watch a lot of it as most people don't perform sports on the railway... But anything that looks goofy and funny, I guess. We mostly see people crosscountry skiing in the fields around here in winter, that's not super interesting, but it is the most common sport in Norway."
