College Visits
So I've gone on two college visits so far, with another one scheduled for Friday.
The first visit I went on was to Indiana University- the school I've thought was my dream school for years now
I loved camus. The size, the opportunity, the acceptance for the LGBTQ and the way the whole thing is set up. All of it just made sense to me, made me feel welcomed, albeit a little lost in the crowd.
Today I went on a visit to the University of Indianapolis- a school I didnt think would really be a contender
Everything about the visit was just about perfect, despite the weather. The size of campus, the way they had individualized attention to me and the family that came with me, the way the dorms are set up and the treatment of the honors college students, the fact your professors will know your name and know you enough to help you when you need it- the whole idea is way more appealing than the huge animosity that would be offered at IU.
It's a terrifying change in thinking, honestly. I'm nothing if not prepared and ready. I'm coming to believe now that a smaller, more close knit campus might be better for the vigorous course of study I want to undertake.
In the end, I know I'll make the right decision for me, but this is something that's more than confusing and nerve wracking for the time being.
If anyone has any advice to give, that would be more than appreciated, as any advice I can get in this time of uncertainty would be amazing.
And like that, my college career is finished. I’m still slighting in disbelief that I graduated today. It’s been an incredible four years with some lows and some amazing highs. I can’t thank those who have helped me to this point enough. I couldn’t have gotten here without all of you. ❤️ Now onto the big wide world of broadcasting. Thank you UIndy for preparing me for what comes next. . . . #graduation #uindy #uindygrad #uindyalumni #collegegraduation #bachelorofscience (at University of Indianapolis)
04.07.17// This was me yesterday preparing for the best and scariest time of my life. And today, I am officially a college graduate and an alumnus for the University of Indianapolis. It still feels very surreal.

My first commencement speech
Last June, I was invited to give a Zoom commencement speech at the University of Indianapolis’ Lavender Graduation Ceremony. It was a new experience for me in more ways than one! After my speech, I received a message from Robert Manuel, president of the University of Indianapolis (pictured). Much appreciated! Grateful for the opportunity to write my first commencement speech! I will always remember the beaming faces of tomorrow’s leaders.
Also, special thanks to Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez for giving me a few tips before the ceremony!
This ranked #2 in my Best of 2020 roundup.
