@uizado meowed: howl, the free pet cat, padding around rei and sniffing at her food. he wants a slice of orange
❛❛ Neko. .? ❜❜ Now, what was it that had drawn this creature to her ? Carmine eyes stare owlishly as it circles her, little nose twitching at the bento in her lap. No living things resided in the cold walls of her apartment, the gentle thud of the heart in her chest — at once borrowed and her own, its rhythm familiar in the pulse of her wrist, its contents distant as her own reflection — was the only tell tale sign of an organic lifeform.
Students talked of pets in class, during clean ups and lunch times ; complaints of cat fur sticking stubbornly to skirts, stories of dogs eating homework, bickering over which animal was better. Here was one, independent and proud, free to roam wherever it pleased whenever it pleased, bound to no will but its own, sniffing around her, bound by body and soul not of her own, by will not of her own. ( though she had felt the stirrings of desire — or was it just hunger ? — to finish the lunch that was given to her, in the shade of the park she’d always pass without a second glance )
What was left ? An onigiri ball, a little bit of tamagoyaki, the orange in her hands — was that it ? Surely such creatures preferred meat, or fish ?
❛❛ Do you want this ? ❜❜ Peeling off a slice, she gingerly extends it to the cat, head tilting with curiosity as she peered at its little face. What striking eyes it had !
