She remained expressionless for a moment, not sure she had heard him correctly. After a moment, she knew she had, though perhaps she was dreaming instead. Suddenly, her mouth felt dry and her heart raced. Marriage? A few short years ago she would have simply laughed off such a ridiculous concept. But now, sitting here beside Ulkon, it seemed more than possible. It seemed like…fate.
She could have laughed at notion, it seemed that he had really begun to rub off on her. Instead, she peered up at his nervous, inquisitive expression. “I have never been so strongly drawn to another in my life and I have been a fool to deny it. Call it fate, call it witchcraft, call it the intervention of the Gods themselves. Whatever you like. But I would be honored to spend the rest of my days bound to you.”
With that she placed her hands gently on his face, cupping his cheeks as she leaned up to kiss him.
