What’s your take on fairy godmother? I think it’s interesting how she is known for her magic, but now she is an important figure in a place that is actively against it and magical beings like herself. Yet she’s one of the few if not the only character that is allowed to use it (unlike mal who technically was going against Auradon rules). Im still not sure if this could be written in a setting of self loathing (bcs unlike king ad*m she didn’t have a magic related trauma and made it everyone’s business) or maybe she’s just privileged and above the rest of magical beings, so she just doesn’t gaf as long as she can have a few uses of her wand
Also interested in how the vks view her, cause after all it’s her magic that got them trapped in the isle for years
She's definitely privileged! It's not a problem if it does not affect her (and definitely not if it benefits her). Fae also have a very black and white morality (even if "good" fairies also trick people into selling their souls and take human babies and stuff like that) and FG as part of the "good fae" (Seelie court) takes everything to extremes. She gets to keep her magic because she's righteous about it, and does it for other people and does not abuse it, which most don't. Needing magic for doing house chores or doing your makeup or anything related to people's everyday life is not righteous and being against the Good King and his law is evil. Being against her is definitely Evil. She thinks magic should be saved to some, the ones that will use it for good and deserve it (which, of course, includes her). And there's definitely some fantasy racism i hate that term involved too (y'know how the elves in tolkien think they're superior to all races and used to hunt the dwarves for sport? that).
I think FG can be intimidating. Eldritch-like. Manipulative and magnetic like Maleficent, but sugarcoated and in pastels, which just makes her more creepy. When they first met her, the vks were more weirded out by her than scared. This woman doomed them and their parents like nothing and here she is giving them the school's schedule ???? At least their parents have the decency to look the part. And everyone on the Isle definitely hates her as much as Beast.
