The Ultimate Newfie Touton Burger is a tasty take on a traditional Newfoundland dish. It has two golden-fried toutons, juicy beef patties with melted cheddar, crispy bacon, fresh vegetables, and a special burger sauce. This dish honors the traditional foods of Newfoundland with a delicious mix of flavors.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 4 toutons traditional Newfoundland fried bread. 4 slices cheddar cheese. 4 slices cooked bacon. 1 cup lettuce, shredded. 1 tomato, sliced. 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced. 4 tablespoons mayonnaise. 2 tablespoons ketchup. 2 tablespoons mustard. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 tablespoons butter, for frying toutons.
Instructions: Warm up a pan or grill on the stove over medium-high heat. Add salt and pepper to the ground beef, and then form it into 4 burger patties. For medium-rare, or any other level of doneness you like, grill the burger patties for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side. In the last minute of grilling, put a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt it. In a different pan, heat the butter over medium heat while the burgers are cooking. Toast the baguettes until both sides are golden brown. Mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard should all be mixed together in a small bowl to make the burger sauce. Spread a lot of the burger sauce on both sides of each croissant before putting the burgers together. On the bottom tortilla, put a lettuce leaf. Then, add a burger patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, a bacon slice, and thinly sliced red onion. Add the last bit of touton on top to finish the burger. Your Ultimate Newfie Touton Burger is ready to eat when it's hot.
