He had forgot what he was doing, he was walking but didn’t know where he was going; all he could think to do was to walk and hopefully it’ll come back to him. The boy remembers being cold and shivering but it seemed that the night had warmed up, he no longer felt cold despite still being able to see his breath; it seemed like things were looking up despite feeling his heart sinking into his empty stomach.
Walking slowly became more and more difficult when suddenly the ground vanished beneath him, the sound of air being knocked out of tiny lungs filled the dead streets.
He was so tired… So, so tired… He’ll just shut his eyes for a moment then maybe he’ll feel better. As his eyelids became harder and harder to lift with each blink, he was vaguely aware of a black figure walking over to him.

“Oh jeezum crow!”
Vivi bundled deeper into her coat and bit back another curse. She always hated being cold, and hated walking in cold weather all the more - but she couldn’t bring herself to get a cab for the four and a half blocks it took to walk home from Tome Tomb, so here she was. ( plus the van was in the shop )
Being as distracted as she was with the cold ( and maybe because her glasses were fogged over ) she didn’t even notice a child in her path until the loud “thump” of him falling over brought her back to reality.
“Jumpin’ Jehoshaphat!” Her eyes widened at the sight and she raced to the kid’s side, a haze of worry clouding her mind. What was a kid doing out here alone and without a coat? He looked pretty grungy - was he homeless? Oh god, should she call CPS? An ambulance?
She gently shook his shoulders, wincing slightly at just how cold he was. Okay, whatever else she did, she had to get this kid warm. She quickly shrugged off her coat and wrapped him in it, before scooping him up. First she’d get him home and get him warm, then she’d figure out what to do with him from there.
“...hey, it’s gonna be okay, kid. You’re gonna be okay.”
