Yet another random update to the Digiformers AU!
I think Hot Rod’s partner should be UltraMagnamon, not Driftmon. It’s just easier to imagine the tension and arc between the two of them as partners. Ultra Magnus being this very no-nonsense serious partner who’s been coupled with a complete hot head. He probably wanted to be Optimus’s partner.
But they eventually start getting on as Roddy learns to take more responsibility and probably manages to step up to the plate during some adventure where Optimus is missing and Roddy has to take over as leader.
Magnus’s rookie form probably looks like Minimus. But I can imagine Ultra Magnus as a Zudomon. Just huge and with a big hammer.
