canon lantern corps and their “emotions”

notes: for all those who want to write lantern corps stories and don’t know about all the lanterns, feel free to message me about them! 

black lanterns → death 

blue lanterns → hope 

gold lanterns → happiness 

green lanterns → willpower 

grey lanterns → apathy 

indigo lanterns → compassion 

infrared lanterns → no canon emotion* (theoretically self-love)

orange lanterns → greed 

red lanterns → rage 

sinestro lanterns → fear 

star sapphires → love 

ultraviolet lanterns → self hatred 

white lanterns → life 

explanations: black power ring𑁋can only be worn by corpses or people who have been dead. blue power ring𑁋have to have hope to use it, can be hope as shallow as “i hope i get pizza later”. gold power ring𑁋can only be used by those who have only ever experienced happiness or been surrounded by happiness their whole lives. green power ring𑁋can only be worn by those who have overcome great fear. grey power ring𑁋can only be worn by those who only feel apathy. indigo power staff𑁋used as a punishment for heartless criminals, makes people feel nothing but compassion, use staffs instead of rings. infrared power ring tattoos*𑁋no canon emotion, but seeing as ultraviolet lanterns are self-hatred, theoretically infrareds would be self-love. orange power rings𑁋can only be one at a time because everyone who has a ring fights themselves to be the only ones. red power rings𑁋the rings replace your heart so taking them off will kill you. sinestro power rings𑁋can only be worn by those who have experienced great fear or caused great fear. star sapphire power ring𑁋the corps is all women, the rings choose women who have loved and lost their loves or those who have had their love spurned. ultraviolet ring tattoos𑁋chosen for their self-hatred. have ring tattoos instead of rings. white lanterns𑁋as many white lanterns as there are black, used by those who have had a full life.

Generally I think DC's habit of perpetually adding Lantern Corps can get tacky, but I like the idea of giving Jericho an ultraviolet ring. A ring powered by unseen negative emotions for him sounds so fitting given how he's perpetually forgiving and perpetually nice no matter how people treat him and I want to see him confront those negative feelings he must have buried.
