what are auburnsilentcomet like as moms to their kits? i like how even the kindest characters in this series all seem to have at least one or two shortcomings when it comes to parenting (even in these au litters) you're really good at making your characters nuanced :0
cometfur is very nurturing and involved in her kits lives. id imagine she’d go as far as quit being a medicine cat for the sake of all 6 of her kits. im sure she was a very nervous first time mother, because all her childhood, no one ever believed she’d amount to anything, she had no adult role models other than cowfeather who lived and resided in pineclan and realistically would put Cottonpaw and PIneclan before cometpaw. but deep down she believes she can do this, she knows she can be a good mother, she just has bad days, but thankfully she has two mates to help her raise this big family.
auburncloud is about just as loving as cometfur. auburncloud probably never imagined ever having kits of her own, but her mates wanted a family, the kits are here, and shes never been so happy in her life now. Auburncloud can get easily overwhelmed with the kits and tires out quickly, so she TRIES to spend time with them, but also likes her alone time. the kits dont really understand this at first but auburncloud always makes sure to tell her kits how much she loves them
silentstep(star) loves her kits, she really does, but she struggles to find time and ways to show her children how much she loves them. she tries to make up by giving them the best prey and little treats and jsut spoiling them, but never actually..really spends time with them. and when her kits act out, she’s not really sure how to deal with it, she’ll either discipline them without even hearing the kits out, or just calls on either mates. silentstep has a bad habit of showing favoritism and this is easily caught on by the kits, especially umbrakit and emberkit. umbrakit is coddled waaaay too much for his own liking, and emberkit feels she is the less loved. she is loved by two moms, but feels unloved by the third: silentstep. emberkit tries doing so many things to get the attention of the mother she admires most, but she is always (unintentionally) brushed off. silentstep, although happy and in love with her two mates who DO know she loves them, silentstep still has some growing to do and learning how to communicate with others and letting them know how much they mean to her without just assuming they know.
