EUDES OWAIN vs. BRUNO
@umbralenchanter vs. @maskedmage
Coin Toss: Bruno casts first
“To think all this time... No wonder ‘Eudes’ looked so familiar! He has been our nephew this whole time!”
“I knew it! Gods, why did he try and hide it from us? I’m hoping the reason is that he simply wanted to add to the drama.”
“Now we must see who will win the tournament. While of our masked magicians shall prove themselves the greatest?”
Bruno takes center arena. The crowd is all incredibly eager to see his newest combination of spells, as each ice performance has grown better than the last. He opens his tome and begins the incantation, summoning the standard floor of ice beneath his feet.
The ice floor becomes more an ice lake, as figures of sculpted swans develop on the surface, growing in various formations with their wings outstretched, about to take flight, and others floating together in water-foul pairs.
Perhaps Bruno’s vision was grander, but the scene stays rather quaint. An icy portrait begins to take shape, with a small igloo growing on one side of the arena. The audience begins to let out little ‘awww’s as they watch this homely scene take shape.
Bruno hesitates. He thinks he is about to falter, feeling his voice hitch as he recites the spells. But there is a very special charm pinned to his clothing, and he takes comfort in it, knowing that he can make Embla proud. He summons forth little ice pixies to give his magical display more detail, sending some of the cold wisps into the audience where children reach for them.
What better finale is there, than snow? With a snap of his fingers, Bruno summons a gentle powder to fall over the arena. The audience breaks into laughter and cheers as they revel in this impossible moment of fresh snow in the middle of spring!
“Beautiful! That was simply beautiful. I love snow!”
“Until it gets cold and wet and messy. Still, it makes for a nice break from our spring theme. Now then, how will Owain try to top that?”
Owain enters the arena with bolts of electricity already rolling off his fingers. The crowd cheers wildly, hoping for another exciting light show. Owain delivers, summoning thunder to the tournament grounds. Storm clouds develop over head, dimming the sun as lightning strikes down in the center, shaking the arena slightly.
The lanterns light up again, like the day before. But clearly, Owain has bigger plans than just flashing lights this time--
As the lanterns flicker and the crowd gets excited, thin lasers shoot out of the lanterns, joining together over the center of the arena.
Clearly, Owain had bigger plans for this light show, but he still delivers on some. Orchestrating the lights, he brings them to form the shape of a flower overhead.
Taking inspiration from the dramatic collar he wears, Owain flicks his hands and brings the lasers into the shape of the Exalted family brand. It is a little off centered, but it’s still there!
“Owain, that was a lovely display! Your thunder magic is incredible! ...But it seems we have our winner. While it is hard to choose between two skilled mages, Bruno has taken the champion’s title!”
“In the end, they had similar point spreads: each had a two pointer and three one pointers. It appears the extra effort put into Bruno’s second spell has made all the difference. Owain, you may have lost, but can you see the look on your mother’s face over in the audience? You’re still her favourite.”
Before the two mages leave the arena, they are ushered to the judges’ box. Owain is presented with a circlet made of silver flowers, his second place prize. Bruno is crowned with the golden circlet of flowers.
BRUNO IS THE MAGIC CHAMPION!!!
