i can only speak for the jp script we can hear. not only this is completely based on listening comprehension from a non native speaker (so some things might be wrong since i cant cross reference any written text), there might be also some disconnect with the written og text so take this all as my personal interpretation! i just hope it can be some food for thought(?) it would be fun to cross ref all of these with the jp version of the game....... watch me dl it soon lmao(?)
i'll start from the most straightforward one imo and hopefully end with the most complex one!
uvhash
well, uv talks exactly like how youd expect him to talk lmao
he's pretty straightforward, you could consider him being part of the rude bunch lol. he uses a pattern most often associated with male speakers (note: in jp, speech patterns are heavily gendered, with the main difference being that masculine patterns tend to be "ruder" and "straightforward" (since it's more socially acceptable for them to be so) and feminine patterns to be more "elegant" and "roundabout". this is just a rule of thumb, it's more nuanced than that, but it's a good starting point for this discussion), but it's interesting to note he doesnt sound as rude as goliath lol (goliath often shortens the end of his sentences sounding even more gruff, uv is polite enough to properly spell out syllables. how nice!). i think this works well with him being kind of an oddball, since shortening sentences is actually pretty common...
he uses ore as a personal pronoun, which is the one that denotes most self assurance, and often refers to keeper as either "human" or as "keeper" with no suffixes (rude!!!!). he also often uses the imperative form, and verbs that reflect a dynamic where he perceives himself as superior to the keeper (think of it like he's saying "i will graciously grant you my help" but being rude about it)(it's also interesting to note he doesnt use any sort of suffixes for the roman emperors he mentions, meaning he has no respect for them at all. suffixes can convey a lot of how the speaker perceives their relationship to the person mentioned, and while the standard would be to keep the other at a reasonable level of politeness, the complete lack of suffixes denotes there's absolutely no need for that politeness, which could be for a variety of reasons (closeness, contempt,...)(this will come back later))
caecus
caecus is very cute to me lol
(but to be fair anything caecus does is absolutely adorable to me)
his pronoun of choice is boku, which is the less self assured one against ore. it indirectly gives a sense of politeness
but his speech pattern makes him sound so haughtyyyyy he does the same thing as uv where he refers to keeper as "human", but also uses "omae", which again reflects a perception of himself being superior to keeper
he is giving haughty little prince to me...... sdfkjghbdskjb he's also the kind who finishes his sentences properly despite using a ruder register, i think it conveys very well how he hides his inferiority complex behind the convinction of being of noble lineage (still drawing a dynamic of superiority against keeper but also ending his sentences properly)
it's also cute he gets convoluted when it's time to show affection to keeper, he doesnt say it straightforwardly, he uses a lot of double negatives. very very cute
i would love to double check how he refers to characters like miryam or goliath (im assuming he probably uses -sama at the end? it would make sense to me), but it's interesting he uses "oji-san" to refer to his uncle. it's the most polite you can hear him being in his voice lines (related to this, id also love to know how he refers to elton...) (i guess you could say him calling his uncle oji-san as opposed to using -sama like other characters, conveys also a sense of genuinity. -sama feels somewhat artificial to use, but oji-san is the term people would use in their everyday life. this fish loves his uncle a lot.......)
castor
castor has some very interesting elements to me, especially when compared directly to pollux (we'll get to him too dw)
he uses ore, and the speech pattern has very polite elements to it, but the pattern itself is pretty straightforward since he doesnt end his sentences in the standard polite form. i think it gives a sense of detachment in a way...? it's hard to explain, but the point is, he is more polite than others (it feels to me like he's replicating how he was taught to talk to others when with the lightbearers), but hes still straightfoward enough for his speech to use base register grammar (as opposed to the standard -masu that always denotes a level of basic politeness)
it's also interesting his register doesnt seem to change around much?? in the voice dramas, he uses the exact same register for both pollux and juliette too. in terms of suffixes, he also doesnt use any suffixes for either of them
okay lets open a paranthesis on pollux actually, bc it's also interesting to note that the way they refer to each other changes from the time before the events of their first escape. pollux especially changes drastically! but talking about castor, usually he refers to pollux just by his name (denoting enough closeness they dont need any suffixes, but also in line with his status as older brother, as opposed to pollux who calls him nii-san, inherently showing respect to him); but when talking with the other lightbearers, he would refer to pollux as 御子ポルックス (lit. the son of god* pollux). it's also interesting to note other lightbearers instead refer to pollux as just 御子様 (lit. the great son of god), not even daring to speak his name out of devotion
i guess my point is- he seems to walk a fine line between self assurance and keeping others at arm's distance, with that boundary growing more feeble when it comes to pollux
[* please let me open a parenthesis on the term 御子 before going any further. it literally means "honourable child", and was also used to talk about the progeny of an emperor; however, the term now refers by anthonomasia to jesus christ. its reading, miko, is shared also by 巫女, "shrine maiden". whats clear here, is that there definitely is a religious connotation to the term, and i tend to gravitate towards the first option (while not discarding the second one) by the fact BIAV relates a lot of christian imagery to the church of lightbearers- lightbearer is the literal translation of lucifer from latin, and pollux's exalt has him literally crucified and resurrecting, aside from being described in celestial aria as "an angel guiding people to god". it fries me so hard(?)]

something that absolutely fries me about him is comparing his speech pattern before and after juliette's indoctrination
his speech pattern in castor's voice drama is a lot more boyish... he uses boku!! and his pattern to me reads as being confident but not rude... hes a proper kid full of whimsy.........
at this time he refers to castor as nii-san, denoting affectionate respect...
but he changes DRASTICALLY after the indoctrination
his speech pattern now follows closely the one used in the lightbearer's scriptures
he switches from boku to ware (archaic, solemn way to refer to oneself)
and when he refers to keeper, he uses "sonata" (archaic term), or "okata", both incredibly polite terms that are meant to elevate the other to a superior status from the speaker
he talks that way only to keeper; in his battle lines he's ruthless af, using for example "kegareshiimonome" (tling it as filth is perfect, but keep in mind the suffix "me" denotes even more contempt. he's really fucking pissed)
i just get fried so hard seeing how much that indoctrination has fundamentally changed him- and even if he's trying to be better, the trauma still follows him, which is. painfully realistic imo.........
from whimsical kid to the son of god to the apostle of light.......
and even then one could argue that. the fact he still speaks in such a pattern, shows in a way he has trouble defining himself outside of his role as the divus

jane is the daughter of a very powerful, influential family in londinium, her father actively takes part in politics too.... she's always deeply respected and admired him, he was the one who taught her to always behave "in a way thats honourable to her status", valuing loyalty, honour and grace, following the concept of "noblesse oblige"...
one day, by a stroke of luck, ryker stumbles upon proof that jane's father has been involved in several financial crimes. however, he doesnt use that proof to denounce him; instead, he starts blackmailing him in exchange of money
jane ofc doesn't understand all this lol, she just sees him visiting their home sometimes and talking with her father.... she doesnt really understand why her father would give the time of day to a useless bum like ryker, but in her brain justifies it still by that concept of "noblesse oblige" and doesn't think too much of it, even if she still doesnt necessarily agree with it. she has a very poor perception of him, since she values hard work and in her eyes he's mooching off her father, taking advantage of his generosity (at this time, shes also kind of intrigued by his lifestyle, something so foreign to a sheltered young lady such as herself, but she would never even think of entertaining the thought lmao. but it's important to note she is drawn by the freedom and lack of social responsibility he represents)
when ryker eventually starts getting his fame as the lucky detective, he stops visiting her family, and again she doesn't think much of it. sneers at his sudden surge in popularity, but is ultimately glad she never has to see him again

UNTIL HER FATHER GETS ACTUALLY PUBLICLY ACCUSED OF EMBEZZLEMENT. thats where her entire world comes crumbling down; her father flees away leaving the family behind to fix the mess he caused. the best solution would be for her to marry into another wealthy family in order to save face and avoid bankruptcy, and she's always been aware that was always supposed to be her role as the young heiress of such an influential family, but.... SHE DOESNT WANT THAT!!!!!! SHE TALKS BIG ABOUT RESPONSIBILITY AND SOCIAL STANDING, BUT SHE DOESNT CARE ABOUT ALL THAT!!!!!! SHE HATES IT!!!!!!!! SHES ALWAYS BEEN SO JEALOUS OF SOMEONE LIKE RYKER WHO CAN LIVE HIS LIFE WITHOUT CARING ABOUT YESTERDAY OR FRETTING ABOUT TOMORROW, WHY CANT THAT BE HER!!!!!! what shes not aware of yet, is that atp ryker has already become an awakener and joined mythag, and ofc caught wind of the whole scandal. feeling guilty for his past and wishing to repent for his actions somehow, he pulls some strings and manages to get mythag to accept jane among their students, despite her actually not having any sort of attitude to silver. it's a difficult choice, that entails also completely cutting ties with her family, but she ends up accepting, effectively running away from her life and discarding her name......
imagine her surprise when she gets there and is greeted by a wolf beastman with a voice she recognizes all too well lol
we're talking uvsyl? have u seen uvhash's frenzy? i assume u have but it's one of the ones i think about a lot bc it's very cute to me. anyways sylvester frequently coming back to his dorm room to see various Gifts uvhash has left for him like some kind of deranged cat, whether or not uvhash is still in the room. it's just like a 'thought of you whilst out/when finding this Thing, here it is' sort of arrangement. and admittedly uvhash is (now) aware what sort of things sylvester actually likes or wants as gifts, but sometimes it's things like. cool rock. weird bone chip. a whole liver (dont worry about it. it's the thought that counts?). twenty bucks (don't worry about it). uvhash is just like 'people like... stuff. surely there's things sylvester likes even if gifts of raw organs are supposedly No Good. going to make him smile with this Neat Rock :)'. sylvester with a collection of Doodads and Miscellany on his windowsill that uvhash has brought and that he's particularly liked. uvhash doesnt say anything but is visibly sparkling whenever something he's procured gets a spot of honour.
