Just loved this book ~ “GAME RANGING, A Life worth living” by Gordon Bailey 📚 Back of book reads – As Louis Armstrong once said, “How do you tell someone what jazz is?” In the same manner how do you tell someone what wilderness is? When I enter the wilderness, I do not have to throw a switch or need time to connect, I know I am there; the healing power of it’s solitude is in my soul. 📚 So many lessons in this book, I’m reminded of @dr.mario_martinez work with this quote~”I dream frequently of being able to do exactly like you say. I have money in the bank to build six houses like you just mentioned. But if I did and if my wife did not go occasionally to a neighbour’s house and borrow a cup of sugar or mealie meal, neither of which we need, we would be ostracised. I cannot build and live in a better home than the chief. People would burn down our house and chase us from the area. We have to be the same as everyone else” …..with Europeans it was exactly the opposite, everyone was trying to upstage their neighbour. On one side, everyone had to be careful that the statements they made did not belittle or offend, while on the other, comments were frequently structured to hurt and to bring people down.” The power of culture and influence cannot be underestimated. 📚 We are all instruments of change. Many of us influence change by what we say and what we do, and just as many influence change by what we don’t do and don’t say. 📚 There is a Chinese symbol for ‘crisis’ that is the same as the symbol for ‘opportunity’.
