Unburiable:

6. When did they realize they loved each other?

Riag realized it right after retaking Claw Island (as in minutes post battle) and then immediately tried to forget that he realized it. Proceeding to make it *way* more awkward that it needed to be for a long time. He can't fake anything and basically everyone knew anyway.

Trahearne had sort of a two-for-one realization. He was aware of his feelings even before the Pact had officially formed but is way better about being 'okay not the time or place for this rn' but really had to sit down and admit it after the cleansing of Orr. No longer distracted by his Wyld Hunt it became v apparent that his feelings weren't just gonna go away on their own.

10. What are some non-sexual activities they do together? 

For general, being quiet in the same space as each other, with Trahearne reading and Riag repotting plants or gardening. They're not a couple that chatters constantly with quips, a few random exchanges here and there when one of them gets on a soapbox but that's it. As for intimate non-sexual, very rarely Riag will just ask if he can sleep with his head in Trahearne's lap - and asks him about random things. Less because he's riveted in the scholars research on the necromancy in the Crystal Desert and more just to hear him talk.

Warcat Wives:

Sigilis knew from when they were cubs, like WAY back in the day but was dating Reeva anyway. Not to say she didn't love Reeva, she did, but there was like a decent part of her distracted by Galla for a long time. Reeva knew she was only getting like 80% of Sigilis, and was fine with it, the warband was all tight knit and on good terms.

Meanwhile it took Galla a really long time, she hadn't really thought of it (she considered the bawdy engineer out of her league) until they were the only ones left in their warband.

Man if you are in a relationship with Sigilis you better be ready to dance at stupid hours. She's not a 'dancer' (like Valens) but she gets full of the spirit and just has to move. The engineer will drag her wife (by the braids or horns if she has to) into dancing with her. Music helps but she can just get full of it with no music and all mood too! Most of her dancing is 'dad at a barbecue who has had entirely too much beer to care'.

Galla gives really strong massages, like none of this acupressure light work, when you're dealing with Charr everything has to be a bit tougher. She'll often give her wife back massages (which start as non-sexual intimacy but does not always end that way). A lot of Sigilis' stress she carries in her low back. It is a mutual thing though, Sigilis tries to do the same but she's just not as skilled at it.

random soft thoughts:

'hearne being relieved and delighted that one of the few things that hasn't changed is that riag gets sleepy if someone he trusts runs their hands through his headroots or along them. yes his sleep schedule is depressing at best, yes its not always the time or place, but it still makes him relaxed. and on rare times where they try to coordinate naps or sleeping in the same bed (one is going to bed the same time the other is just waking up) its just a small way that things are still the same even though nothing is fully the same.

I feel like Trahearne drives, Riag picks music. I get the feeling that Riag would have 0 time for traffic or other drivers so let the one with more patience drive.

R I A G. He would most definitely get into it with a cop, probably just verbally, but still. Authority figures who like to flaunt there power but don't actually do anything to help infuriate him. He also wouldn't apologize and would absolutely do it again, arrest be damned.

💌 | a love note from one to the other

(I did one from Trahearne here but here is one from Riag, though he's not one for writing thanks to his hands but he might occasionally.)

He would leave it somewhere that Trahearne would see it, probably after he has gone to bed but Trahearne has already woken up for the day. Like on a book, desk, or by the door. In a shaky font that seems to skitter across the paper at times it would read,

Sorry I didn't catch you this morning, long night. I love you. Now, then, and always.

Drabble

Well, since recently revisited S2 and being thoroughly bummed again, my brain worms have cooperated. By that I mean, they've synchronized into sort of a  waltz instead of thrashing like a junior high kid in their first mosh pit.

And by that I mean I managed to write a short little drabble of the beebs being cute before everything went to hell.

A rare moment of company, a rare moment of comfort. Between running here and there, it seemed that they simply had no time for anything besides the business of war. The hour was late and both of them reasonably ought to have been asleep.

The Commander sat next to him on the bench. Normally at first, but then slowly sliding through either fatigue or purposeful intent out of that position, until he ended up lying with his head in the Firstborn’s lap. It proved to be an interesting task of cooperation in navigating so that his headroots did not become uncomfortable for either of them. Which in and of itself was amusing, to be compounded on by the fact that neither of them had slept in more time than they cared to fathom.

They probably should have been focused on addressing the issues of the Pact, specifically these troubling new reports of what the most recent damage was from the vines springing up. Should have being the keywords here. Both of them were wearied from the constant barrage of chaos and catastrophe, along with a pressing sense of dread they had yet to name. Riaghael had been so busy with tending to other areas of worry and trying to prepare for the journey into the heart of the jungle that he was hardly ever at Camp Resolve. It felt like though they managed the Pact together, that they never saw each other. There was more down time during their missions in Orr than there was here.

So when a chance for reprieve came, the only thing that came to mind was rest. However brief and fleeting it would be, as piles of work and complications built behind every second. The spring green necromancer decided to speak his mind before either of them dozed off.

“I love you.” Riaghael said aloud, as though it was the answer to a long burning question. A solution and resolution blended together. “So much so that it feels like it’s going to kill me at times.”

Trahearne had half a response cobbled together before Riaghael added to his original thought, in a softer, more hushed tone. “I think I’d let it, too.”

“Let’s hope it doesn’t. For both our sakes.”

“Does everyone who falls in love feel this way? How do they get anything done?” He laughed, an airy sound filtered by exhaustion. Disbelief coloring it but not obscuring the humor.

“It’s a little different for everyone, I think. But yes, it’s certainly distracting. Though not in a bad way.”

“No, not bad at all. Terrifying is more like it.”

“Terrifying.” The Firstborn smiled as he repeated the word, what a way to put it. “Interesting choice of words.”

“Not for you, maybe. But I’m not used to this. I’ve never...” Riaghael paused as he scrambled with his phrasing.

“Hm? You’ve never what? Been in love?”

The silence was enough of an answer but as if to stress the point, his intense gaze darted away for a moment, avoiding Trahearne’s sight. A tightness appearing around his eyes and mouth, which solidified into a frown. It was the Firstborn’s turn to be painted in disbelief.

“Riag, really?”

“Really.” He sounded nervous, it was unusual for him. The self-assured and confident sylvari wore unease like an ill-fitted garment. “It’s never happened before. I didn’t know I could.”

Mouth slightly agape at the realization, Trahearne felt a strange manner of duty rest over him. The Commander had mentioned when they first agreed to attempt being together that he was inexperienced in relationships. Yet it hadn’t occurred to him that it meant he had no experience at all. He himself had loved before, though the memory of it was from days long faded with time. Love came easily to him, as did attraction. It would have been selfish of him to get involved with anyone, he told himself, when his focus had been consumed by Orr and the healing of it. But now that it was behind him -

Looking even less comfortable, Riaghael added, “I’m sorry if that’s news you didn’t want to hear right now.”

“It’s not that. I’m grateful you chose to share it with me. Just... surprising.”

He gave a relieved, almost shaky sigh. “I was afraid it would put you off.”

“Why would it do that?”

“Because it proves beyond a doubt that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing?” Phrasing it like a question, as though it was obvious to everyone.

“Then you have beginners luck.” Trahearne said, leaning down to press a quick kiss to the top of his head, next to the vibrant pink blossoms. “I happen to think you are doing an excellent job.”

The Dawnbloom glowed a warm peach but chose not to say anything else on the matter. He let himself sink back into a comfortable position, having found that he had tensed as if to leave. Not that he knew where else to go, Riaghael always found himself gravitating back to him.

Trahearne’s hand that had held the reports, though they’d long been forgotten, finally set them on the seat. With it now freed, he ran his fingers along the sides of the trailing roots that emerged from the top Riaghael’s crown. Idly caressing, in a gesture that was second nature to him when they were alone. At the touch the other necromancer’s bright pink eyes hooded for a moment before slipping shut.

The two of them had friendly quarrels on whether they were roots or branches, agreeing to disagree. Riaghael was adamant that they were roots, despite the flowers. At their base they were inflexible and rigid, but towards the ends as the roots thinned they could be moved some. Often growing and becoming brittle if their owner didn’t tend to them properly, which he seldom did.

“This is definitely not analyzing reports, Marshal.” He muttered, making a fake attempt to protest. Trying and failing to put on the voice he used when speaking to common infantry.

“You don’t hear me complaining do you? Come, just rest for a moment.”

The floral Sylvari cracked an eye opened at him and included playfully, “I can see why your cats like this so much. They might have some competition.”

“Don’t let them hear you say that. There will be time enough for all of you when this is said and done.”

Warcat Wives:

💍 Which one of them would propose? How would it happen? (or write if you feel like it!)

Originally, their proposal was going to be somewhat of a joke. Sigilis was going to make a small confetti spraying gyro to whirl around the both of them - that played a fanfare sound on repeat while she took a knee and asked her. But it didn't help up happening, the gyro kept choking its engine on the confetti and catching on fire. Which - also funny - didn't work for Sigilis' big plan.

Instead, she just popped the question while they were hanging out having lunch. Galla didn't get it at first, but when Sigilis explained how much it would piss off a lot to uptight Charr and humans alike - she was sold.

💞 What do their respective families think of their relationship?

Galla and Sigilis don’t have much left in the way of family, their old warband is gone and their biological parents are probably long dead. Neither showed much interest in visiting their cubs after they had been sent off - hearing only that they used to be decent soldiers to kept their nose to the grindstone.

💗 Describe your OC’s partner(s) from their point of view! What do they really think about them?

Sigilis: “Gal? Oh man. Oh man, she’s something else. Arms that could carry a dolyak - that was carrying another smaller dolyak on it. For all her strength and size, that Charr has got a sharper mind than she lets on. She’s levelheaded and  calms me down, keeps me from going off my rocker. Well, even more off my rocker. Plus have you seen that fur? That rich brown colored accented with silver, like a river of precious metals. Don’t know what I did to score such a wife - but whatever it was, it must’ve been pretty damn good.”

Galla: “She’s my heart. All I am belongs to her. And whatever is left after that. Her sense of humor gets me out of my own head. I look forward to hearing her laugh more than most things. I’ve never met anyone else half as wild, or half as loving. If you’ve earned her fondness, the world seems easy and there are no problems you cannot solve.”

Unburiable:

💍 Which one of them would propose? How would it happen? (or write if you feel like it!) 

I don’t either are likely to propose :o It’s a tradition that doesn’t seem to hold much value in Sylvari culture, though I could see a Sylvari marrying a human if the human wanted a wedding.

Though if we were talking about some type of ceremony to make it official, I think it would have to be Trahearne who would initiate anything. Riag doesn’t want to confine or box him in so he wouldn’t ever think of it.

💞 What do their respective families think of their relationship? 

Supportive all the way ‘round, with a healthy dose of familial teasing from Ruby, who was flabbergasted that it took them so long originally to figure it out. She was one of the members of the Pact also betting on how long it would take them to make a move. (She won her bet, knowing Riag better than most)

💖What are some little subtle ways they show that they love each other?

Since Trahearne is an avid reader, he tends to leave books open to the spot that he last left off. Which means they often close by themselves if there's a breeze of someone walks by them and he loses his spot, so Riag puts a bookmark in it and closes them. Bookmarks can be anything from scrap pieces of paper, little notes, or if he's feeling particularly soppy - a dried flower from his garden.

Riag’s habit of sleeping with his hands in fists wasn’t great for his hands even before they were injured. If Trahearne catches him napping or sleeping like that, he either tries to loosen the fist or if they’re both catching a snooze, will hold hands with him so that he doesn’t accidentally cause himself more discomfort when he wakes up.

💗 Describe your OC’s partner(s) from their point of view! What do they really think about them?

"He's the smartest person I know, he's considerate, compassionate. Pale Tree only knows how much patience he has. Patience has never been my strongest quality and I envy that about him sometimes. There's a gentleness about him that I suspect most don't get to see - I am forever grateful to able to know it."

💜 Give a random fact about their daily life together!

Their mornings are not the most in sync and are often amusing. Riag's at his most tired and is getting ready for bed and Trahearne is usually just waking up (even though he's a Night bloom, he's adopted a more day oriented schedule just for sake of ease). Which leads to some barely coherent statements and half mutterings of two tired/groggy individuals. It often ends in both of them just dissolving into giggles about something misheard or mispoke.

Thank you for the ask :D Let's see random questions...

For the Warcat Wives: What are their opinions on marriage?

They have a fun history with it. Originally, they were not planning on getting married as it’s not very common with at least Legion Charr behavior. Given that they’ve already had a few run ins with some of the more militant types who think relationships are for producing cubs and that’s it - they tried to find the biggest “F*ck you” that they could to Charr society. Which happen to be a human style wedding. They didn’t make a big event out of it and only their Warband showed up but they are so proud.

Sigilis made their rings! Though she made Galla’s slightly too small and felt bad about it, but Galla refused to let her resize it and instead wears it on a chain around her neck. It’s under her armor 24/7. They both love making the stick-in-the-mud types uncomfortable with their marriage status - they thrive on it. The term ‘mate’ is more common among Charr than ‘husband/wife’ so they use the words interchangeably. But make a point of using ‘wife’ to annoy people.

They will be in their face about it and they will kick someones teeth in if they say anything. The both of them are also protective of others (Charr or not) who they see getting singled out.

For Unburiable: What gifts would they give each other?

Riag is a competitive gifter, haha. He loves giving people things and going over the top with it. But for Trahearne - I think it would be the gift of time. Of letting him choose wherever he wanted to go, whatever he wanted to do, and for how long. If that means they both end up staying in the Priory’s library for hours, or going to a festival besides Dragonbash then he’s up for it.

I think that Trahearne would probably go with something more sentimental than practical, since he knows Riag’s secretly mushy. Maybe not something as direct as a locket but something along those lines!
