DeanCas FlipFest 2018!

this was really fun to work on! i tried to do something more mysterious and messy to match the feel of the fic.  i think it turned out well!

I have to gush about the fic though, it was so incredibly cute and the pining killed me in the best way. please give it all your love and praise katie’s beautiful writing she’s so kind and talented! A real joy to work with!

Also thank you to the folks over at profoundnet for being so incredibly supportive and welcoming. And of course putting on this creative fest that let me stretch my art muscles! I hope to keep on grow more as an artist and keep making things for fests and such because you can never get enough destiel!

A/N: This is my first time participating in the poetry challenge so I’m nervous haha. I don’t really do poems but I love Castiel so why not? I hope you guys like it anyways :) 

I am a weary soldier 

I follow orders

“Save the righteous man” 

Hellfire, corrupted demons

And nestled inside its core

A bright brilliant soul

“Save him”

I obey

Dean is his name, a holy vessel

He is jagged edges, sharp words

Bruised skin and 

Fear

Star light freckles

A human borne of purity and good

Dean, someone worth falling for

They say:

“The moment you touched him you were lost!” 

Maybe so but 

Still I obey

A holy vessel, apocalypse driven

Imprison him, don’t let him go

No matter how much 

He screams

Bleeds

“Obey” 

I watch as pain spreads across his face

It blooms, outwards, inwards, everywhere

“Hit him again” 

I obey

Bloodied hands grasp at me

So fragile

So loved

“Cas...I need you.”

I obey until I can’t

He gasps

“We’re family”

I know, please just-

Stop 

Violence comes easy

Forgiveness easier

“You don’t think you deserve to be saved”

Words I said long ago

A different time

An obedient soldier

Now, staring into the mirrored shards

My life, my sins spread before me

I agree,

I don’t think I deserve to be saved

But Dean-

Dean believes in places

Where I am lost
