Thank you for the tag, @kiki-the-creator, @thoracicorchid, @aislinnstanaka, and @kingkassam!! I wanted to post something from TTT but it's all either still on "commentated gameplay" stages and no one wants to see that, or from the baby or heart rate challenges and I've already posted about those so... I'm back on my unpolished Uncertain Sequel™ bullshit, I'm sorry. But hey, it's Sunday brunch with the Kohs!
"Honey, could you come with me for a second? We should get a couple more bottles of champagne into those buckets, shouldn't we?" Martina hooked her arm around Lucas' and pulled him away from the group.
Once they were inside, he was the first to talk. "So?"
Martina leaned on one of the kitchen counters. "I was about to ask you that." He rested against the wall and crossed his arms in front of his chest. Her gaze studied his expression carefully. "Where is this going with you two?"
Ah, here we go, mom... "Forward, hopefully."
"Lucas, you do remember you two have only met-"
"Oh, really? We hadn't noticed!" She stayed silent, waiting for his answer. That he hadn't let her finish asking the question didn't mean he would get away with avoiding it. He sighed. "We know, trust me. But these were not normal circumstances, it's all... condensed. We kinda have a year's worth of experiences and talks, trust me."
"You wouldn't believe how strange and intense things get in that damn place. It's quite literally the kind of bonding you get after surviving a crisis."
"I reckon that's the case. Still," Her tone softened a bit and she placed a hand over his arms, "I really don't want to see you hurt." She pressed a finger to his chest, over his heart. "Be careful with that, okay?"
"I'll try, but that's not really mine anymore."
"Oh, wow." They both laughed at how unlike him his words were. "We saw you saying it. It was really strange, not going to lie, but really sweet." He blushed slightly and she smiled.
"So? What about you? What do you think?"
She raised a sceptical eyebrow. "Do you care?"
For fuck's sake, you're my mother. "Shouldn't I?"
"You shouldn't; and if I raised you right, and I certainly did, then no, you don't care what I, or your father, think."
"I mean, it won't change my decisions, but that doesn't mean that I'm completely indifferent to it..."
She smiled again. "Glad to hear it." I'd almost forgotten that everything's a test with you. It's exhausting. "But anyway, I'm not taking what I've seen at face value, so I won't say I know her yet."
"You're a good judge of character, though." Give me something, mom.
You'll have to get me to publish it to see what Martina thinks about Liz. God, I love Martina.
Anyway, I'm tagging @lasswithumor, @rennell and @voile-de-lune! I know it's already kinda late, but just in case!
