As Morro and Lloyd arrived back home, M/n stood there and Dinner was on the Living room table. He looked at Morro expectantly.
“So ? How was your Date with Nya ?”, M/n asked.
Morro blushed.
“It was great ! We planned to meet up again tomorrow. Just...”, Morro stopped himself.
“Juuuuust ?”, M/n dragged out.
Morro sighed.
“The end wasn’t all that great. I brought Nya home and Wu expected us. I am glad that I left Lloyd down the stairs...”
M/n froze up and his eyes showed anger.
“Did he hurt you ?”, he asked Morro darkly.
Morro looked at his Papa and there were a few tears in his eyes.
“N-not really. Papa...I almost lost control again. I-I....!”, Morro started to sob.
He hoped he had it under lock and key, with his anger and rage, but he saw tonight, that it wasn’t the case. He covered his eyes with his arm and M/n hugged Morro with sympathy.
“What happened, Kiddo ? What did the old hag do ?”, M/n asked.
“He wanted me to move back into the Monastery ! I said I don’t want to, but he didn’t leave me alone ! Nya tried to send me home, but before we could leave, he came after us and I had to hide Lloyd. He knows that I live with you and that you are my Papa. He exploded about you how bad you were and I...I snapped ! I’m sorry !”, Morro sobbed out.
M/n hugged him tighter.
“Did you hurt anyone ?”
“No. Nya stopped me.”
The adult nodded and ran his hand through Morro’s hair to calm him down. Poor boy...
“I stood up for you and probably hurt Wu emotionally though. He forgot what he told you the last time he saw you and was angered that you didn’t show your face in the two wars. One was against the Serpentines and the other against the Time Twins. I couldn’t keep my mouth shut and I defended you ! I hate him so much ! Why is he like that ?!”, he yelled into M/n’s chest with sobs.
M/n’s face darkened. Wu made Morro cry. He made him go batshit...
‘One day I will fucking kick his ass into a retirement home...’
Lloyd hugged Morro too, tightly at that.
“Bubba, don’t cry. When you cry, I cry.”, Lloyd said with a saddened voice.
M/n looked at Lloyd surprised.
“Bubba ?”, he asked.
Morro parted from his Father and looked at him worried.
“I-is that okay ? I don’t have a problem with Lloyd calling me that.”
M/n gave the boys a soft look and then shook his head with smile.
“Not a problem at all. I was just surprised that he sees you as a Brother.”
“I was too.”, Morro said softly, wiping his tears away.
Lloyd looked up, at Morro.
“Bubba better ?”, he asked.
Morro looked down at Lloyd and then picked him up, hugging him to his chest.
“Bubba is better now. Thank you, Lloyd.”, Morro replied softly.
“I made us some noodles with your favorite sauces and toppings. Want to eat with me ?”, M/n asked them.
Their eyes widened in happiness, big smiles on their faces and they rushed to the dining table, quickly sitting down. M/n chuckled, sat down too and together they ate Dinner.
After they ate, M/n sent them both to get ready for bed. They went into the bathroom, brushed their teeth, washed their hands and faces, then changed their clothes and then Morro entered Lloyd’s room again with a Story book.
“Yay ! Story !”, Lloyd cheered.
The Teenager smiled at his Cousin and chuckled.
“Which one do you want me to read ?”
“The bunny and the hedgehog one !”
Morro sat down, chuckling.
“Alright then.”
He opened the book and flipped the pages until he found the Story.
“Once upon a time...”, Morro started and continued to read to Lloyd the whole Story.
After he finished he looked at Lloyd and smiled. He was deep asleep. Morro ran a hand through Lloyd’s hair softly. Then he got up and left the room. He left the door open a bit, in case Lloyd had a bad dream and needed him. The nightlight was on too, so he should be able to see and not freak out in the dark.
“Son ? Can we talk ?”, M/n asked as Morro left Lloyd’s room.
Morro jumped, not having heard his Father. He turned to him, nervously.
“Y-yes, Papa ?”
The Teenager felt like he was caught with his hand in the cookie jaw. Even though he had nothing to hide.
“Follow me, to my room, Son.”
Morro did as told, head down. His Father sounded serious, was he angry with him after all ? Did he do something wrong ?
Soon they entered M/n’s Bedroom and the 15 year old had no idea what to do, besides stand there.
“You can sit down on the bed, Son. You aren’t here for a punishment.”, M/n calmed Morro down.
Carefully Morro sat down on the bed and M/n did next to him too.
“Lloyd’s seventh Birthday is coming up next month, Morro.”
His eyes flashed in remembrance.
“What do we do for his Birthday ?”, Morro asked.
“I want YOU to plan his Birthday, Son.”
The Teenager looked at his Father in shock. M/n never let Morro plan anything before. This felt like a BIG opportunity.
“Really ?!”, he asked excitedly.
M/n nodded.
“See it as a small challenge. Don’t make his Birthday too expensive though, okay ? I can only spend 2 000 yen. I have been saving up for his Birthday.”
“Two thousand ?! That is a lot !”
“Not really. You probably want to take Lloyd to the Mega Monster Amusement Park. He wanted to go there for a while now. I know that you know that. He will probably want to be on some rides too. The Amusement Park is NOT cheap, Son. Then we probably want to get him some gifts, decorate the house for his Birthday, make a cake and, IF there is still enough left of the money, he will probably want another shelf for his toys. The 2 000 yen will be gone, before we even know it.”
Morro stared at M/n in worry. Then he thought back to his own birthdays.
“Was I an expensive Kid ?”, Morro asked.
“I spend at least 1 000 yen for your Birthdays and that was when I was very low on cash, Morro. Don’t over think it, okay ? The new furniture in your room costed a lot and I managed to do it in ONE Birthday to purchase for you. That shit, altogether, was almost 30 000 yen. Your Katanas, that I gifted you, were 5 000 yen each. The new bed you wanted as a child ? At least 3 000 yen. Don’t worry, Son. I didn’t neglect you and I was happy to give you what you needed, when I could.”
Morro looked at him with appreciation and love. M/n knew that Morro thought that he was a burden and that M/n neglected him, but he always assured him that he would never. Morro really needed that.
He pulled the Teenager into his side and hugged him.
“I’m sorry that I am so busy all the time. Business has been booming recently and I have a lot to do. I know I haven’t been the best in watching and spending time with you two recently, but I am honestly trying. We can’t have both, have enough money and spend time, for days, together. I can be lucky when I can spend the evenings with you two.”
“I understand that, Dad. I just wish I could help, so you have the day off faster.”, Morro stated softly.
“I know you want to help your old man, but I can’t let you, Morro. It is boring as hell and you would need a while to understand what is going on. Also, you are still a Kid. So be exactly that. A Kid. The older you get, the less of a child you are going to stay. I don’t want you to throw the last few years of your childhood away, just because of me.”
Morro looked at the wall, deep in thoughts of what his Papa told him. He seemed sad to admit that he soon will be all grown up. M/n seemed to hate the bare idea of Morro wasting his last few years of childhood on work already. So the Teenager did what his Father would wish of him.
“Alright. I won’t throw away my last few years of childhood.”, Morro said softly.
“Thank you, Son.”
“Of course, Papa.”
“Now go to bed. I don’t want you to oversleep your day.”, M/n said as he parted from the hug.
Morro nodded, smiled, wished his Father a good night and then left for his own room and bed.
-Time skip-
Morro woke up, energized, at 9 AM. Lloyd just stormed into his room.
“Breakfast, Bubba !”, Lloyd called and jumped onto Morro’s bed.
Morro snatched Lloyd and tickled him, making him laugh loudly and protest.
“You little imp ! I will tickle you for attacking me !”, Morro playfully yelled in a battle cry.
Lloyd only laughed loudly, screeching when Morro hit a very ticklish spot on his stomach. M/n came to Morro’s room and smiled, with a small chuckle leaving him. These two really fooled around like Brothers. It warmed his heart.
“Mercy ! MERCY ! HAHAHAHA !”, Lloyd begged.
Morro stopped with a pout.
“Fine...”, he gave in, in a childish pout.
M/n chuckled again and they both turned to their Uncle, slash, Father.
“I suggest you hurry up, Morro. Otherwise Lloyd will wolf down your Cornflakes, apple juice and pancakes.”, the adult warned.
Morro stared at Lloyd, who stared at Morro. Both of them had big eyes.
“Oh, no you won’t eat MY portion, like last time, you little Imp !”, Morro said darkly, jumped out of bed and ran to the Bathroom.
Lloyd truly DID wolf down Morro’s and his own Breakfast once before. Morro was five minutes too late at the table and that was when he caught Lloyd, who wolfed down the last bit of his scrambled eggs. Since then Morro made himself a rule, to NEVER be late again.
Morro was done in two minutes and jumped around, trying to get his sock onto his foot. Then he rushed out of his room and into the Living room as fast as possible, leaving Lloyd and his Dad behind. M/n laughed.
He and Lloyd left Morro’s room and slowly entered the Living room, spotting Morro in his seat already, waiting for them to sit down and eat too. After they sat down, they started to eat.
After they finished, M/n cleaned the dishes and Morro went outside to train. Lloyd sneaked out and watched his Cousin/Bubba train. At first Morro trained his Combat skills for an hour, then he trained his Elemental Power for another. When he was done, he was sweating and ready to take a shower.
Lloyd was in awe as he saw Morro train. He wanted to do all these cool things too ! He sneaked inside again, before Morro saw him. The Teenager went into his room and took a nice cold shower. After he was finished he started to plan the day with Nya. It was 11 AM, soon to be 1 PM. He only had two hours left.
-Time skip-
He was in Jamanakai and waited for Nya to arrive. He was a bit early and M/n did say that he would watch Lloyd, at which the smaller boy protested. After a bit of talking it out, Morro took Lloyd with himself and a bit of his own pocket money, to buy Lloyd some sweets, if he wanted any.
The smaller boy just looked around at the moment, looking for Nya. He smiled with his lollipop in his mouth as he spotted her, looking around, lost.
“Bubba, there she is !”, he said and pulled his sleeve eagerly.
He turned around and looked, spotting her too. They both marched over to her and Lloyd gave her a hug. She chuckled and hugged him back.
“Hello there, Lloyd.”, she said with a chuckle.
“Hi ! I spotted you first !”, he said.
Morro chuckled. Nya looked at him and was in awe. He wore a GI. It was a pretty one. It had a bit of green on it, some sliver and also black spots on it. It was adorned with a golden Dragon head and his symbol of his Element was on his back.
“I did promise to show you my element next time, thought I should wear my GI for that.”, Morro explained gently.
“The GI looks pretty. Who designed it ?”, she asked.
Morro smiled for a second and then frowned a bit.
“Uncle Garmadon and Papa. Garmadon suggested the bit of green, because I always wanted to be the Green Ninja, he added the grey in, because he thought it fit my Element. Papa added the black in, to make a balance seen with my Element. It can be helpful and it is very important, but at the same time...it can be destructive and deadly. M/n designed it and Garmadon got it done for me. It was a Birthday gift.”
She frowned in sadness. Garmadon really meant a lot to him... She pulled him into a hug.
“I’m sorry that you got parted from your Uncle.”, she said.
Morro hugged back.
“It was Wu’s fault.”, he replied.
“You did mention that.”
After a short while, they parted and Morro took her left hand, smiling gently. Lloyd grabbed her other hand, already having an idea where they will go, so his Bubba can show his Powers off.
“Ready, Nya ?”, Morro asked.
She smiled back at him.
“I’m ready, lead the way.”, she replied.
Lloyd did hate girls, but Nya seemed nice and Morro seemed to like her, so he was trying to get along with her, for his Bubba’s sake. They started to leave Jamanakai and they went to an unknown location.
As they arrived, Nya found it beautiful. It was a hill covered in grass and there stood a single big tree. She liked it here.
“What do you think ?”, Morro asked.
“It is beautiful here.”, she replied softly, breath taken away.
Morro chuckled and smiled brightly, then looked at the single tree.
“Dad and Garmadon brought us here often. He said they both trained here as Teenagers and children. Since then I came here too, to train and get better. But not to get better than everyone else, like I did in the past, but to better myself. I have to admit...I am proud with how far I got.”, Morro said happily.
She smiled at him and then decided to tease him.
“So, Master of Wind...what have you got up your sleeve, hmm ?”
Morro was taken aback and turned to her. He saw her teasing smile and he smirked back at her.
“Have you ever tried to fly before ?”, Morro asked.
“Hmm...no. Why ?”
She gasped as Morro suddenly hovered over the ground, his feet not touching the ground. He rose higher and higher gently and gave her a smug smirk.
“Because today you might experience a flight with the Master of Wind.”, he answered proudly.
“I wanna fly too !”, Lloyd whined.
Nya and Morro looked at the boy and Morro chuckled. He moved his hand and a gust of wind gently picked the boy up. Lloyd gasped and then giggled as he was floating in the air. Morro moved his hand again and Lloyd moved in the air around, laughing and cheering.
“Faster, Bubba ! Faster !”
Morro obeyed and moved his hand a bit faster, making Lloyd cheer and laugh loudly. Nya watched with a smile, but she was nervous to try it out herself. Morro looked at her smugly.
“So, you want to try ?”, he asked.
She looked at him in worry and slight fear.
“Y-you won’t drop me ?”, she asked.
Morro’s smug smile formed into a gentle and kind one, no teasing in it.
“I promise you, I won’t drop you. Trust me.”, he assured her.
Nya took a deep breath and then nodded. Morro brought Lloyd back to his side and then used his other hand to make Nya fly, she gasped and was very unsteady. Lloyd decided to help her to get a hold of the new feeling, remembering how hard it was for him at the beginning.
“Don’t worry too much about it. It is like swimming ! Relax your body and mind and don’t dwell too much on fear or the need to control your body for stability ! It’s fun !”, Lloyd said happily.
The girl looked at the kid and then did as he instructed. Lloyd wasn’t wrong, it felt like swimming, just less wet. She smiled at Morro and he smiled back at her, then Lloyd ‘swam’ over to her in the wind and grabbed her hand.
“Don’t let go of my hand. I will help you with flying !”, Lloyd said happily.
She did as requested and Lloyd looked at his cousin. Morro got the hint and moved them gently at first, which Nya gasped at and wobbled.
“Stay calm and let the wind carry you. It’s fun, I promise !”, Lloyd encouraged.
Nya tried her best to do as instructed and soon she had calmed down enough for the wind to just carry her. As the two boys noticed that she got used to the gentle waves of the wind, Morro picked up speed and Nya just giggled, while she tried to not flail around.
“You are doing great, Nya !”, Lloyd said proudly.
“Thank you, Lloyd.”
Morro smiled and kept the pace up. He started to fly next to them both too.
“Enjoying yourself, Nya?”, Morro asked.
“I am. I am getting used to it, it’s fun!”, Nya giggled out.
Morro grinned and they kept flying, with Lloyd laughing in joy, Morro smiling and chuckling, and Nya giggling.
After some time, Nya got used to it and let go of Lloyd’s hand, then she flew around on her own and laughed. Morro picked up the pace of the wind and Nya flew faster, she enjoyed the speed.
After hours of hanging out and eating lunch together, Morro brought Nya to the Monastery again and smiled.
“So tomorrow again?”, Nya asked.
Morro chuckled and rubbed his neck sheepishly.
“Ah, I fear I can’t. I have a few things to plan for next month.”, he replied.
Nya looked at him with curiosity in her eyes.
“What will be coming up next month?”
Morro held Lloyd’s ears closed.
“Lloyd’s Birthday and Papa let me plan it all out this time. It’s my first time planning Lloyd’s birthday all alone.”
Nya looked at Morro in surprise.
“Oh? Your Dad is too busy?”
“No, but I always wanted to plan Lloyd’s big day, one day, and Papa sees me as old and responsible enough to do so this time. I really want to make his Birthday special.”
“Aww, you are too sweet of an older Cousin.”, Nya said fondly.
Morro chuckled.
“Bubba, I am still here, please let me hear again!”, Lloyd yelled.
“Ah...”, Morro uncovered Lloyd’s ears again, “Sorry, Lloyd.”
“It’s fine. Uncle is probably missing us already. We will be late for Dinner and I wanted to read my new Comic!”
Morro looked at Nya and smiled.
“As you can see, I have priorities with this one. I better get us home now so the squirt can read his new Comic.”, Morro chuckled and ruffled Lloyd’s hair.
Nya giggled too.
“Heeeyyy!”, Lloyd protested weakly.
“What’s his Comic about?”, Nya asked.
“It’s Starfarer. A Samurai in space comic, it has been running for a while.”, Morro answers.
“Huh, that does sound interesting.”, Nya said with a smile.
“It is sometimes.”, Morro chuckled.
“I hope you and Lloyd will have a good Dinner and night at home. Will you visit or write me if you want to hang out again?”, Nya asked.
Morro gave her a soft, gentle smile and nodded.
“I will tell you, no worries.”
Nya nodded and then entered the Monastery, Morro quickly picked Lloyd up and then used the Wind to fly off and back home, before M/n has a stroke. They were both 30 minutes late.
-With Nya-
As soon as she entered the Monastery grounds, Kai and the other Ninja were all over her.
“And how was your date?”, Kai asked with a slight smile, yet there was a tinge of worry in his eyes.
“Did you kiss?”, Jay asked with a tinge of jealousy.
“Was he still nice to you?”, Cole asked, concerned.
“What did you two do?”, Zane asked curiously.
“Boys, boys, relax! One after the other.”, Nya said with a chuckle and looked around to make sure Sensei Wu was nowhere around.
She smiled at them.
“The date was amazing, Kai. No, Morro and I did not kiss, Jay. He was still an absolute sweetheart, Cole. And we ate lunch together and messed a bit around, Zane. Lloyd was with him and we played with him as well. The boy is such a little bean, guys. In a month it’s Lloyd’s Birthday and Morro is planning his entire Birthday for the first time ever. M/n gave him the green light and Morro always wanted to do it, so for now we won’t hang out much, so Morro can plan everything.”, Nya explains and keeps the fact, that Morro was the Elemental Master of Wind, to herself.
Jay seemed jealous still, but the other three Ninja smiled and nodded, happy that Nya had a good time.
-With M/n-
M/n was pacing around and looked at the clock in worry. Morro and Lloyd were late by 30 minutes now, that never happened before.
Did something happen to any of them? No...Lloyd or Morro would have called him if so....right? Were they kidnapped? Are they somewhere, where the flip phone has no signal? Are they on their way home? Did they lose track of time?
M/n stopped pacing as he heard the front door and he dashed to the entrance, spotting Morro and Lloyd.
“Where have you two been?! You never came home THIS late without letting me know! Do you two have any idea how worried I was?!”, M/n yelled in a slight panicked, yet angry tone.
Morro and Lloyd looked down in slight shame.
“I’m sorry Papa, Lloyd and I got a bit carried away with Nya and we also brought her home, to make sure nothing will happen to her... It took longer than I planned in and we came home very late...”, Morro admitted, his voice filled with guilt.
M/n looked at the two boys and sighed, rubbing his temple.
“Alright...I forgive you, but for the Love of my Father...NEVER do that again. We have Hypnobrai back on the loose, thanks to your and Lloyd’s cluelessness. I don’t need that damn tribe to take you away from me.”, M/n said, reminding them that Ninjago wasn’t very safe at the moment.
“Yes Dad....I’m sorry...”, Morro replied, still feeling guilty.
Lloyd looked down too, feeling a bit sad, because he opened the tomb of the Hypnobrai, yet at the same time...Lloyd was curious about them and wondering if he can make friends with the snakes.
“Garmadon would NEVER forgive me if those blasted reptiles get their paws on any of you two. He would quite literally come back to Ninjago just to whoop my butt.”, M/n said with a frustrated sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
Lloyd’s head snapped up at that and he stared at his Uncle.
“Dad would?”, he asked.
“Whoop my butt until next week if you or Morro ever land in the snakes’ hands? Yes.”, M/n replied.
“But why?”, Lloyd asked confused.
Morro was also a bit confused. They never heard about the Serpentine war, nor did they know that Garmadon and M/n actually joined the war. One of the few wars Wu had no idea M/n secretly joined too.
The adult sighed and looked at Lloyd and Morro.
“How much do you two know about the Serpentine war, Ninjago once had?”, M/n asked.
Lloyd looked at his Uncle with a slight frown, thinking.
“Well in Darkley’s we learned about how some snakes attacked the humans. They always said it must be made up, because such snakes were never seen and stuff... We barely talked about it.”, the boy said.
Morro was silent, he was long gone and away from Wu before the War broke out and during the war he wasn’t anywhere near the war in Ninjago, so he had no clue it even happened.
“I have no idea what the Serpentine war was about. I wasn’t there when it happened....I think...”, Morro admitted.
“You were already out of the crossfire those days, Morro, and searching for....the you know what.”, M/n confirmed.
Morro stayed silent and grimly nodded. He was already chasing after the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master those days. M/n sighed and sat down on the chair.
“The Serpentine war was real, Lloyd. Humans and snakes were at war, fighting and killing from left to right. It was a very violent and harsh war and....the serpents almost won too.”, M/n started.
Morro and Lloyd stared at the adult in horror.
“Wait! How do you know that, Uncle?”, Lloyd asked.
M/n gave his Nephew a grim smile.
“Because your Father and I were in the war as well. I helped in the background and hid from Wu, after all, he didn’t want me around ever again, so I helped in the background and the only one, that knew, was Garmadon.”
