Okay now that I've screamed about the funky little block men, I have thoughts.
Again, FableSMP S2 Spoilers. You've been warned.
I really like the angle they took with one specific relationship in Fable. I mean, here's this guy who spent so long being scared that everyone he cared about would leave him, or worse, forget him. So he didn't let anyone in.
Then along comes a silly little scientist, and he fell head over heels. But he was so sure that the other didn't feel the same that he didn't say anything. And then they made the first move, and the adventurer saw that this person he loved actually loved him back. And they promised they wouldn't leave each other. Things, while not perfect, were good. Until the tree.
With a bang, the world reset, and the scientist woke up with no memories. He was curious, but not worried. It was a strange new world, but he'd figure it out. Then he met Aax, and Aax's keen senses led them to a hole made of Blackstone and stairs, and a room with a book. The scientist read that book, and like a lightswitch, everything was flipped on its head.
As the memories flooded in, he remembered Him. He promised he'd never leave, and now, he was gone. Whether he was dead, or missing, or all the way in the End again, the scientist didn't know. He just knew he had to find him.
*--------- joined the server* flashed across the screen, and he felt relief. The man who made him feel safe was here. Safe. And he went to him, hoping for his love to be there. Hoping for home.
Instead, he met a this man, this Stranger, wearing the face of the one he loved. He met this man who yelled when the scientist used the only name he knew, because time warps memory, and terrible jests become what's comfortable. The man who's only goal would put him far, far away. The man who did not care about the scientist.
And so, in a last ditch attempt, the scientist poured out his heart, only to have it thrown back in his face. He was left, heartbroken, on the stairs of the town hall as the man he loved walked away. And so, he left him alone. Because the fact that the adventurer did not care was more painful than anything.
Well, maybe not anything. Taking your eye out to put a new one in hurt like hell. And when Aax showed up at this strangers door, begging for help, he obliged, and upon seeing the bloody, unconscious scientist, he helped. He did what he could, and hoped it would be enough.
It was. The scientist came round, and thanked him. And their relationship mended a little bit. Despite how badly things started, the relationship became better. And then, the scientist decided to go on an adventure.
The fact that they both met at the stable at the same time, on accident, was too coincidental to be a coincidence. And there, they started over. Reintroductions and a promise of a new start led to the pair going on a horseback adventure to find a library. And, while they did, it didn't matter just then.
What mattered is that they walked home together. And the man who never let himself feel made an offhand comment that he thought to be true: He was just some guy. He wasn't anyone important.
While he may have thought that to be true, the man who felt it all responded with the truth HE knew: Though the adventurer didn't believe it, he WAS important. And the scientist left.
But in that moment, the lightswitch flicked. The memories came flooding in, and a realization was reached. He was the Man that was scared to be forgotten. But he never was. HE was the Man who forgot. So he ran.
He lived right next door anyways, so it did not take long at all for him to reach the door. He burst through, and the scientist smiled at him and asked him what was going on. All that came out was "I'm sorry."
And in that moment, Rae knew. The man he loved, his Ghosty, was back.
Rae Morningstar, Son of Orchid, Vessel of Enderian, Ally of Lennarius, Friend of the Earth and Sea, Guardian of the Nether’s Prince, Friend of the Aether’s remnants, Partner of Story, and Seeker of Knowledge.
Caspian Ghosty Solcrest, The Lost One, Prisoner of Enderian, Ally of Lennarius, Friend of the Earth and Sea, Guardian of the Nether’s Prince, Friend of the Aether’s Remnants, Partner of Knowledge, and Ghost of Stories.
I just think these two deserve long impressive titles. I think most fable characters do, but only have the mental capability for these two rn.
What if Rae grew up in the end instead of the overworld?
(TW for torture and cult activity)
Soon after Orchid left Rae had been wondering about looking for his sibling when they happened across a manor, owned by a wealthy family. The Mistvales a large group of people who enjoyed farming. Who happened to have a young son around Rae’s age. Rae, who was lost and turned around, looking for his sibling. He decided to stay the night.
That night he was taken to a secret basement, where they decided to try a ritual on him. He survived the first of the nonmembers to survive the first infusion. they then began to keep him below the house, scared that they lose him. He began to gain scars. Wherever he had been hurt and damaged, thanks to the infusion, it would scar over with Enderman skin. On the third and final infusion, one of the members forgot to close the cellar door. Young Centross curious about what was happening in the seller snuck down to watch them do the third and final infusion.
They finished the final ritual, Centross watched as Enderian spoke to all of them. Shocked by the fact that they not only sacrificed a child to her, but the child sacrifice had worked. taking Rae to the end, she realized that he would probably be lonely and the Mistvales, helpfully offered up Centross as a bonus.
Both children were brought to the end, where Enderian gave them a large house with a lot of land to play with. On each of their birthdays, the children could ask for one gift of any kind.
The first gift Centross asked for was one of every plant Enderian allowed him to get the dirt and materials necessary to grow everything. the young boy instantly fell in love with glow berries and filled his entire bedroom with them.
The first gift Rae asked for was an entire library filled with books on other dimensions, the gods, curses, and empty notebooks for him to write in. Enderian also included dictionaries in all known languages including Ender, Telchin, and Vo’lète.
Centross next asked for a single dog. He was given a small dog that he named Hope. She always follows him around while he works in his garden.
Rae asked for an abundance of fabric and thread. He began to make his and Centross’ clothes.
Centrist asked for a clock that responded to the time in the overworld so he could finally nag Rae about a proper sleep schedule.
Rae asked for an animal that would be his companion. Enderian gave him a white cat with dual-colored eyes. He named it Bucket.
This went on for several more years-resets. Rae eventually began to forget the overworld and how he got to the End. Centross didn’t forget how his family gave him up to a random goddess. He didn’t forget how they tortured and sacrificed Rae. He promised himself he never would.
One day Ray, in his curiosity, decided he wanted to go see what was in Perix’s prison he discovered that there was an overworlder in there. And although the overworlder was asleep, he could easily tell that that person had been seriously injured and abused. Making up his mind to do something, he snuck into the alchemy room with the help of Epros.
He found the warden’s journals and how they didn’t match up with the reports and how Perix has been going behind Enderian‘s back and trying to take her place as leader. he instantly delivered this information to Enderian. He also found the love letter however, he decided to keep that bit of information to himself.
Enderian furious puts Perix into the mirror and keeps it as a personal trinket on herself at all times. Rae then advocates for the release, and to apologize to the overworlder, for the unjust treatment as a prisoner. Enderian agrees to his release from prison however, he is not to leave the dimension and will stay with Rae and Centross.
Ghosty who had grown used to the constant abuse and torture wakes up in a very different place with two people he’s never met before.
The more Endermen-like one introduces himself as Rae, he’s taller than Ghosty, but not as tall as the purple-eyed overworlder, he wears nice fancy clothes and has long dark hair and piercing green Eyes Of Ender with round glasses.
The purple-eyed overworlder introduces himself as Centross, he’s easily taller than Ghosty, and a few inches taller than Rae He wears simple clothes, but there’s still very nice. There’s dirt and mud caked on hands that are calloused with work. Obviously, he is someone who is used to working outside though he doubts the soil, in the end is similar to that of the overworld.
As for himself, Ghosty has a ripped and torn jacket. His memories of the overworld are foggy and hazy much to Rae’s disappointment. The ender-hybrid seems to be fascinated with the overworld. Not that he’s complaining these two make far better company than the warden.
Rae looked up from his sketchbook as the door to his and Ghosty’s room creaked open. Athena, with a blanket over his shoulders, and Jamie stood in the doorway.
“Hey, Doc.” Athena whispered, just loud enough for Rae to hear it. “Can we come in?”
Rae nodded, “yeah, of course. Is everything okay?”
“I… had another nightmare.” Jamie admitted.
Suddenly Rae’s sketchbook was forgotten on the bed and the scientist was crossing the room. “It’s okay, it’s going to be okay.”
“I know.” Jamie assured, “It was about the old bunker, so I know it wasn’t real.” Still, they seemed shaken. They had walked in behind Athena, and had lingered in the doorway itself for as little as possible.
“Hey, it’s okay. Dreams can be very realistic.is there anything I could do to help?”
“I don’t know, I don’t want to be inside really, but it’s so dark outside.”
“Jamie?” Caspian had been roused by the conversation, he had sat up but was still clearly tired.
Rae explained the situation in a few words. “Nightmare, bunker.” Then, back to Jamie and Athena, “do you want to go on a walk? Or maybe we could set up some blankets and pillows by the window?”
“Both sounds good? Please?”
—
Rae grabbed a few blankets, Caspian grabbed a bag of food. Athena and Jamie spent a few minutes watching Pickaax swim around. It wasn’t an unfamiliar routine, so Rae and Ghosty worked quickly to gather their things.
Since Jamie started remembering, a slow and painful process, they had come to Rae for comfort multiple times. After connecting with Athena more, they’d both show up in the middle of the night if either of them had bad dreams.
Rae took longer than Caspian to prepare because he wanted to grab an extra thing or two. But Jamie seemed alright for the moment just watching Pickaax in their little pool. “Ready?”
The small group, Athena and Jamie hadn’t remembered enough for Rae to be sure if they were a family again, set out along the lit path that ran through their developing town. They had fun pointing out special places, and telling small tales.
They settled under the tree, a blanket spread out beneath them and more passed around for safety from the nighttime chill. Rae pointed out some constellations, giving short, half forgotten summaries of their legends. Caspian remembered stories of his adventures, and described great monuments and temples that he had seen.
Under the stars and moon, it seemed that nothing could be wrong in the world because for a short time that was true. Nightmares of being trapped, hurt, lost, or hunted were all forgotten and replaced with messy sentences from the mouths of people who were once strangers but sat now as family.
Eventually the spell would fade, but instead of monsters only the darkness of sleep would threaten to creep in on them. With each other’s help, they all made it back to the home they all had a claim to. Although the blankets and pillows were spread around hastily, Athena and Jamie fell fast asleep in the moonlight under the window.
Rae and Caspian did return to bed, but even after the small adventure Rae wasn’t quite ready to sleep. He stared at the mess of pillows and blankets, and the two members of his little family that didn’t remember just yet. Caspian could follow his eyes, but didn’t need to in order to know that that was what Rae was staring at.
“Hey,” he whispered with a smile. “They’re safe, they’re here.”
“Yeah, they are.” Rae wiped away a tear. “I don’t know if I want them to remember everything, Caspian.”
“Thy might,” Caspian admitted. “We’ll still be there for them, whether or not they do.”
“Yeah. Yeah we will.” Rae laid down besides him. “Hi.”
When Ghosty first awoke he was warm, a sensation he hadn’t felt in quite some time. peeling his eyes open he looked up to a moss ceiling lined with purpur and endstone brick. looking up at the green squishy block of the overworld the day previous came rushing back to him. Being released meeting Rae and Centross. Rolling out of bed his feet carefully touched the cold stone of the floor. The beds of the end were a different style to that of the overworld, a thin line of squishy leather over stone complete with a roll of that, same leather for a pillow. However, this bed also had a line of leather for a blanket, which surprisingly kept in some warmth.
Opening the door to the room, he was greeted with a hallway, where, directly across from him was another door, and then to his right was a third door at the end of the hallway however, to the left, he could see the hallway continue to stretch on perhaps the others were down that way? Walking down the hallway. He came to a wide-open room that he as the room he arrived in. A large purple room with endstone and amethyst accents and a moss carpet and a moss roof. These two really liked moss. There were two doorways from this room the one directly across the way he came, which seemed to lead into a library the other, which was closed.
Slowly creeping into the library, he was taken aback by the sheer number of books. In the center of the room was a small desk where the ender hybrid was busy scribbling away.
“hello?”
“AAAA” do you watch does the quilt flew up into the air and very paper scattered as the hybrid jumped in his seat. “Oh, you’re awake. You scared me half to death.”
“Oh, I’m sorry I-I can go if you’re busy” Ghosty nervously stammered, feeling bad for ruining his work.
“no, no you’re fine! Centross probably would’ve dragged me to take me on a break soon anyway.” The hybrid's face began to blush a light magenta. “Actually, why don’t we go to the garden together I have a feeling you’d like it”
“You have a garden?” At the thought of the garden, his best friend, the Lady of the world appeared in his head. he shook those thoughts from his head. After all, it would probably be filled with plants from the end. What kind of plants grew in the end anyway?
Ray lead the way leading out into the main room and then turning to the closed door as he opened the doorway, Ghosty’s breath was stolen away as a large green area filled with towering trees and plants of every kind growing he saw all sorts of flowers, rows of tulips and sunflowers, and orchids, even a few moon daisies. Glow berries! so many glow berries it seem they were the main light source, along with shroom lights. They even had a Nether area!
“Pretty great huh? It’s Centross’s pride and joy.” Rae explained with a soft smile on his face.
“Well yeah, I spent most of my life getting it to be this way! This is my baby. I’ve been caring for it since… since I was very little.” The man in question came around the corner, carrying a hoe with a small dog trailing after him.
“Hi, this is amazing. Reminds me of being outside in the overworld going on adventures”
“You’re an adventurer?” The ender hybrid’s green eyes stared expectantly. Does he ever blink?
“Yeah, I used to go on adventures and then usually came back to my best friend.”
“Oh, what was her name?” Rae had pulled a book out of somewhere and was apparently writing it down.
“She was called a Lady of the World because that’s what she was whenever she was happy the sun shined so brightly and when she was upset, thunder and lightning struck the ground below her.”
“You said was, if you don’t mind me, asking what happened to her?” the purple-veined overworlder asked curiously.
“She died. She died in my arms.”
“I’m sorry for your loss I don’t remember my parents or anything about the overworld. That’s why I research it so desperately.” Rae smiled politely his face turned down to the ground, a common sign of respect for end citizens.
“Well, that is enough of that! Let me show you around the garden!” Centross, spoke up, grabbing Ghosty's arm and dragging him off. Rae laughed and followed behind.
It continued like that for a few days. Ray being dragged out of his study by Centross. Ghosty and Centross wondering about the garden and talking. Ghosty and Rae relaxing in the library. Ghosty especially enjoyed spending time with Rae. It was cute when he mumbled himself while working. he also met their two pets. Hope the small dog that followed Centross on the first day along with Bucket, the sassy book-loving cat.
It was on one of those relaxing simple days, he was spending time with Centross in the garden.
“Hey Centross?” the adventurer, quietly asked
“Yeah Ghosty?”
“I think Rae once mentioned that you guys came from the overworld, What happened? If you don’t mind me asking”
The farmer sighed, “I remember it he doesn’t and it should stay that way. It’s not a pleasant memory. Now, are you gonna help me with the sunflowers or what?”
Nodding Ghosty got onto his knees and began to help with the weeding. some of the dandelions had gotten into the sunflowers pots and it was causing problems. He had never been good at farming, or with plants, those have always been the Lady of the World’s thing, but he was happy to help Centross where he could.

It was a normal day to their knowledge. The three of them had no knowledge about how in the overworld fall was creeping up. No, and despite Ghosty, having celebrated All Hallows Eve before and Rae having read a few books on it. None of them had any idea about the holiday going on in the overworld. that was until a young Nether hybrid appeared right in the center of their living room.
“Sherbet, Momboo, Haley, anyone?” The child called out.
“Umm... hello, you’re in our living room.” Ghosty eloquently spoke up.
“Oh, umm… hello I am Athena. Any pronouns”
“So we’re just introducing ourselves to the child that appeared in our living room? Whatever Centross he/they”
“I’m Rae he/him”
“Ghosty, he/him”
“OK, so can you tell me where I am one minute me and my friends were doing this spooky haunted house that showed up in our town and now I’m here.” Nether hybrid’s, tail flicked back and forth.
“You’re in our house in the end.” Rae explained. “how you got here is very confusing, it doesn’t match up with how Enderian said people get here through the portal filled with the Eyes of Ender. Then you would have to somehow get to our house, which is very difficult…” Rae begins to mumble to himself incoherently.
However, before he could mumble for much longer, Enderian appeared scaring Ghosty. “child of Netherum how you have been brought here is a mystery to me. However, do not worry you are safe, you will be watched over by Centross and Rae.”
“Who’s Netherum?” the hybrid, looked up at the tall, scary goddess with a confused pout. “and can I just go home”
“No child, you are safer here” and with that, the 7-foot goddess disappeared.
“Rude.” They said, with a deepening frown.
“yeah, she does that even to us.” Rae, said with a kind smile, walking over to the hybrid. “Come on, I think we can set you up a room maybe some lava since you’re from the nether?”
“I’m from the Nether?” Athena looked up at Rae with a startled and surprised look.
“you didn’t know you were from the nether?” Rae responded with an equally surprised look.
“Let’s just get your room set up. I think I can steal some lava from the potions room if I could get Epros to teleport me there again…” Rae and Athena trailed off down the hallway.
“Well, it’s been a day,” Centross said, turning to Ghosty.
“Yeah… you wouldn’t mind me laying down in the garden.”
“No, not at all. I force Rae to sleep there all the time when he refuses to go to his real bed.” the farmer smiles at the adventurer.
“YOU HAVE A CAT!!!” the excited squeal of the youngest member of the household echoes down the hallway!
It took a while the journey was not easy, but they found a Library in that library. They found a book it talked of another dimension, the End which none of them had ever heard of. Sherbet, almost laughed it off as a fairytale, a myth, but with the chance that Athena could be there, they had to admit that it might- possibly- maybe- be real.
A few days later Jame and Sherbet got letters from Athena. They said that they were in the End and that they had made three new friends
[crossed out in purple ink] an ender hybrid scientist who was teaching them redstone.
[crossed out in purple ink] a farmer who has an extensive garden.
[crossed out in purple ink] an adventurer who was from the Overworld.

Rae and Athena had been spending a lot of time together in the library. Athena now could make so many redstone contraptions! Their favorite was the redstone clock.
Ghosty also would come and check on the two of them often. Usually, he dragged them out to Centross’s garden.
Centross was enjoying the company of Ghosty he wasn’t the best at farming but he did try to help as much as possible. Athena also was a blessing, the nether hybrid was amazing at getting Rae to take breaks. They were also just a ray of sunshine brightening the cold dark end.
After a few days, the four of them had settled into a routine. Ghosty had suggested that they have dinner together. However Athena was the only one who could cook in any sense of the word, and even that was manly baking.
Enderian showed up once again and said that it was Athena’s 17th birthday. Athena asked to send letters to their friends.

Two adventures multiple dead ends. finally! finally, they had reached it. They would be able to find a missing member and bring them home safely. All they needed to do was open the portal.
Jame was the first to find the portal. In front of the portal was a lectern with a book full of gibberish. Thankfully Sherbet and Will are very good at puzzles.

Centross had tricked Rae into sleeping in the garden. Leaving the other two members of the household to chat in the living room
Ghosty was recounting one of his many adventures. It was one Rae had already heard so he wasn’t missing out on anything.
Suddenly a roar erupted all over the end. Shocking everyone, Rae awoke with a start.
“Centross, do you know what that means?” He said turning to the farmer.
“Rae, no.” The guard ordered.
“Centross,” Rae said standing up.
“Rae you are not to go to the portal.” The warrior’s voice was stern.
“Are you going to stop me?” The vessel challenged.
“It’s my job, Rae”
“It’s my dream Centross” with that he ran to the edge of the island and jumped into the void. Epros had already teleported him to the portal by the time Centross reached the edge.
“Fuck! Fuck, fuck fuck!!!” Centross began to pull his hair, “why can’t you just make my job easy Rae!” With a huff, the servant of Enderian went inside.
Ghosty was sitting with Athena on the moss carpet trying to keep them calm. The young hybrid was holding onto Rae’s cat Bucket for dear life.
“Centross, do you know what’s happening?”
“If I had to guess Athena’s friends are here…” he calmly explained. At once Athena jumped up.
“So they’re gonna take me home?”
“I’d assume so.”
***
“A dragon! There’s a dragon?!” Sherbet exclaimed as they came to their senses.
“Yeah,” Easton said calmly.
“Ok time to kill a dragon,” Mombo said as the town began to fight.
Rae watched the overworlders fight ⟊⟒⏃⋏. It was fascinating how varied they all looked, unlike the End-citizens who all have very similar traits.
The overworlders were easily able to overwhelm ⟊⟒⏃⋏. The final blow was delivered by a person who was covered in flowers and had red-orange hair. Rae saw the end portal open but it was unstable.
The overworlders looked at the portal but didn’t enter instead, they went looking around in the opposite direction.
When he was in the clear he went over to ⟊⟒⏃⋏’s body and placed his hand on her snout, “⋔⏃⊬ ⊬⍜⎍ ⎎⟟⋏⎅ ⊬⍜⎍⍀ ⍙⏃⊬ ⏁⍜ ⏁⊑⟒ ☌⏃⏁⟒⌇ ⍜⎎ ⏁⊑⟒ ⏃⟒⏁⊑⟒⍀.”
An enderperson came up behind him and placed their hand on ⟊⟒⏃⋏’s snout, “⊬⍜⎍ ⋔⏃⊬ ⌇⌰⟒⟒⌿” a common thing, in the end, to say to the dead. As more enderpeople began to gather and give ⟊⟒⏃⋏ her last rites, Rae slipped away into the portal.
Rae had to shield his eyes from all the light as for the first time in a long time he was in the overworld.
