Eridan doesn’t really believe in the idea of owning a pet. Unless the animal worked for you in some manner, or otherwise served some sort of tangible purpose, he can’t fathom why somebody would take care of something else. To him it’s a one sided relationship, and he sees no worth in such a thing. After all, as far as he’s concerned, animals are mostly mindless entities with a few basic instincts, not unlike a walking boulder. He has no compassion for them.
