Female Rappers
As important as any Thursday might be, today it is of the utmost importance that I bring Thirsty Thursday a whole new regime. This regime is of female rappers. I've come to realize through self-reflection that I have serious adoration for their respected works. Can I get an amen to the fact that a female rapper is a reward and respectable title? It isn't easy to be a female rapper because of the obvious minority issues and the ideology that a female cannot be tough and relevant?
Dear readers, there is very few, if any female rapper I don't respect in one way or another. Those who are are the ones who have survived, and are at the forefront because their lyrics are powerful, aggressive, truthful and are spoken (not said) by a person with presence and rad confidence.
I bring you: Iggy Azalea, Kreayshawn, Kid Sister, Heartsrevolution, Karmin, and even Lil Mama or Nicki Minaj. It cannot be argued that these ladies are their works - feisty, fresh, forward, fashionable in their own regard, and own their sexuality without any apology.
Even if you can't enjoy every piece of their persona or mixtapes, can you enjoy their principals? Fighting for their dreams, self-establishment and working their asses off. Those qualities alone get me so jazzed up that everytime I turn on their best, I am completely engrossed in the priniciapl of the poetry.
So, the moral is: wash your mouth with something a little more juicy next time you are rapping along to a good mix in the car. Aight?
