There had not needed to be many words between them, Unda had so effortlessly unravelled the celibacy of his heart. It had not been much of a battle at all, if he were honest with himself. He lost the moment he knew that his concern was more than just concern for a member of the Takeda clan. He cared, not because he had to.
But because he wanted to do, and that want drew him to want many other things that involved her, and the future, and the visions of a life together he had denied himself for many years.
So he wondered, if she knew the way her hair was his favorite color-- had always been, since he was a young boy. If she understood that those small smiles she gave him broke and healed his heart all at the same time, the way her strength inspired a desire for life he could not remember possessing before.
Masayuki wondered if Unda, his wife, knew that she had had changed his life. If he did enough to show it.
"I thought it would compliment your hair. The magnolias are are at their peak in this season."
Maybe it was not enough-- it was more than she had ever been given before, and he was a poor fool when it came to showing his affection. His sons had suffered for it, and perhaps his first wife as well... but not her. He would find a way for her to see that she had all of him.
Even if it was just something small that brought a spark to her eyes, he would discover every last one of them.
