Fried Mozzarella Sticks Recipe
I am excited to post our first recipe! I’ve been cooking for a little bit now but this is my first Youtube video! Today I tried fried mozzarella sticks using a recipe from AllRecipes.com. I will post the link bellow.
This is what I like to call COLLEGE FOOD, meaning its quick, easy, and affordable. It only cost me about $12 at Walmart (however I sent about 3 on grated parmesan cheese for a flavored garnish but didn’t buy the peanut oil or cornstarch so the variance should really be no more than $5.) Either way it’s an UNDER $20 RECIPE!
Now I hate blogs that are like 3 pages long before it gets to the actual recipe so here it is....
INGREDIENTS
12-24 mozzarella string cheese sticks
2/3 cup of flour
1/3 cup of cornstarch
2-3 eggs
1/4 cup or more of water
2 cups of Italian breadcrumbs seasoning
at least one quart of peanut or vegetable oil
INSTRUCTIONS
note: make sure your cheese is very cold so it doesn’t melt before the outer crust is done frying. I tried freezing it but I think it made the cheese too cold...
1. For your prep you’ll need 3 medium bowls, a fryer or large pot, a fork, a couple plates, a few paper towel sheets, and some tongs.
2. Mix 2/3 cup of flour with 1/3 cup of cornstarch in the first bowl.
3. Then mix 2 eggs with 1/4 cup of water in the second bowl.
4. Pour breadcrumbs in the third bowl.
5. Preheat oil to 365 degrees.
6. Dredge in the flour, then egg wash, then the breadcrumbs.
7. Set up your plate with a paper towel over it to catch the extra grease when you take the cheese stick out of the fryer.
8. Place the cheese sticks in the fryer for at least 30 seconds until they are golden brown and before the cheese has started to seep. You’ll only want to do a few at a time because they cook quickly and you’ll have to keep up. If you put too much they might also stick together.
note: cooked under and the cheese will still be firm, cooked over and it will fall apart if you try to pick it up with tongs (I recommend investing in a spider, I kinda struggled without one.)
9. When finished, top with the grated parmesan cheese and fresh parsley to give it that restaurant/your-in-laws-are-coming-over look. Plus the parmesean tastes good on them! It makes me think of T.G.I. Friday’s Mozzarella Sticks.
10. Eat immediately because why wait? Also so the cheese doesn't harden back up. I think most of us know what it tastes like when cheese sticks have been sitting for over 15 minutes.
pro tip: dip in marinara sauce for an explosion of flavor in your mouth

This was a fun, simple, and cheap thing to cook but keeping the breading together and the cheese from melting was a pain for me and I generally don’t like frying that much. It may be easier in a fryer that regulates temperature better. The breading was pretty good and I liked how fresh it tasted compared to even a restaurant where you can tell they com frozen.
