SMH... I made this a DIY project and now that I am down to the actual damage, I would have been a FOOL to let a body shop charge me over 3K to do this job. All that was needed was for a small hinge to be bent back in place. I bought all the parts I needed yesterday from a salvage yard for about $150 and I am going to be able to get a refund of over $100 because I don't need half of the things I thought I was going to need. The insurance company really wanted to total my vehicle and junk it!!! I think not!!! I will take the money I received from them and open a new CD, put some in the back of my savings account, and take the rest to get supplies to do my own oil change. Not today Insurance company, I win!!!! We pay so much in insurance each year only to get the short end of the stick! It pays to do your research on what the insurance company will do after a small fender bender, what the body shop is required to do, and what you can do to beat the odds.. I know the average person isn't going to fix their own vehicle, cause hell, out of laziness and convenience, I was going to be one of those average people but look at God! Too happy that I am a hands on kinda guy!!!
