Tell us about your “Therapy” EP.
The idea of the track Therapy was “music as a therapy” that comes in two different forms: active and receptive. I tried as an activist in the therapeutic field this time. Before I started this track I was in quite a bad mood but when I returned to finish it after some time it was all different and better. I made the vocal parallel with the sound. This is my first EP including remixes of my track and I am very happy about it. The remixes are interesting and different, all together making a great clubbing mood. I also like the EP cover with Vitor’s drawing of me.
How you define your style?
I’m open to many music genres and I listen to different music periodically. I have developed an eclectic musical style that draws on a wide range of influences and genres spanning from classical to avantgarde styles (electronic, techno, bass, dark, ritual, progressive house, electro, experimental)
Tell us about your other projects.
I am a fashion designer and I work as an owner of Melani Digit clothing label. I also work on a costume design projects. Sometimes I participate in events as a multimedia artist combining technology, visual and performing arts. I became a Dj and I started to produce music this year. I didn’t have any ambition to produce music up until recently so it’s getting more and more interesting to me and after some offers to release it its getting more serious.
How is the techno scene in Macedonia?
There was an expansion of techno raves back in the 90’s, but since then other genres have developed and found its audience resulting in a rich clubbing scene. In the last couple of years the techno music is having its great comeback. “Skopje is a techno city” – that’s what most of the young tourists say when they come to Skopje for a weekend. There are a few clubs here for techno and other electronic styles. In general, most of the djs in Macedonia play techno. I was influenced by techno clubbing in Skopje.
How is it for you to work with Underdub Records?
The label offered me a release and be part of their roster and I felt very glad to do it. I like that it’s a very active platform that supports artists from all over the world. Through this label my EP is being downloaded by influential music producers whose feedback means a lot to me as a young producer from Macedonia. It’s great to be part of this.

Tell us about your EP "Observable Universe". "Observable Universe" is my first release on Underdub Records. The second EP that came together in search of a sonical identity. A creative outlet to express myself.
What's your studio gear?
Ableton, Omnisphere, Sylenth, Massive, FM8. KRK monitors, Beyerdynamic DT-770 headphones. Tell us about the techno scene of Belgium?
We have some good party organisers and concepts who invite some of the biggest names in the scene on a regular basis. So we are spoiled in a way but this sets the standard also very high. You can definitely feel that techno is gaining back it's popularity over the last couple of years.
How is it for you to work with Underdub Records? The label contacted me to do a release, so this makes you as an artist feel supported and part of an active community. One that's constantly on the lookout for new music. A community that keeps it's artists informed about future releases, feedback, remixes, gigs, ... feels great to be part of!

What is your studio gear?
Now, I only use Ableton. I sold all my machines!
How do you define your style?
I’m a passionate french Dj and Producer who has been playing some Techno music for few years. I discovered Techno music when I was 12 years old, I listened to a lot of different kinds of music, and my style gets even better with experience. Now, my music is like a gloomy and dark room, but unclouded and with a bit of sunbeams. I'm influenced by industrial sounds and the origins of Detroit Techno.
If you could, what you would change in music industry?
I think the music industry is saturated, and we are only aware of the existence of a few artists who managed to be on top. However, a lot of unknown artists would really deserve to be in the light. Soundcloud is the music network on which artists can freely express themselves, and get the chance to be discovered. I am so shocked to find out all the issues that Soundcloud has to deal with, to me it’s unbelievable because music should remain for everyone and a symbol of freedom.
Tell us about your "Confused" EP?
When I make a track, I want to communicate emotions and I desire that people have the same mindset as me when they listen to it. I made "Confused" in one night! I was not in the best mood that night, and I wanted to create a fat, heavy, and industrial track, which makes you crazy.
How is it for you to work with Underdub Records?
One day, Vitor the manager of the label, contacted me on Soundcloud to offer me to join Underdub Records and I was immediately captivated by the style of the label! I am regularly in touch with artists of the label around the world, all extremely talented! I hope one day we can do a gig together, it would be amazing!

Tell us about your LP "Nodrëm".
For me this LP called Nodrëm, was a dedication of many productive and lively hours where I could produce for many hours and moments, taking each idea and putting everything on a project. Best of all was that I began to think about this LP when I was out of the big city, and I put into practice the production in my full day as if there was nothing else to do. It was an experience that was remarkable to me, like a trip to another world where I could observe the different side of everything just feeling the music in practice, locked in my room for nights. Nodrëm, "the northernmost part of the Earth." This album includes my own songs related to the world and the technological society, where 6 tracks are originals and other 6 are remixes by fantastic artists. My productions have variations, result from the work with various Drums, Noises, Fx, Pads, Leads and principally synthesizers, which some were industrial and also using my creativity in sounds more experimental and ambient.
What is your background in music?
I started my training of music production in 2014, where I studied for 4 months with private lessons with Antony Well. I always had the dream that the day I was a Deejay I would play only my productions, so in 2015 I studied in one of the best schools of Brazil, AIMEC, where I did a DJ course of 4 months to improve myself with the music and everything that involves an artist. I dedicated myself so much to the production that I did't care where I was playing, but express my sound. I was always looking for a way to improve in everything since the music writing until I feel the music as if the public was feeling what I wanted in each element and movement details. And with great dedication in 2016 and already with my own tracks I have a release on the Portuguese label Underdub Records.
Where your inspiration came from?
It's amazing when you hear any sound and it instantly inspires you to make music! I listen to several artists who inspire me too, as Dax J, SNTS, Ascion, Headless Horseman, Kwartz, Svreca, etc. The inspiration for this album was simply crafted bringing a blend of harmonies and melodies to the straight and industrial sounds, the musical vision and interpretation is clearly the melancholy side and accelerated dark rhythm and melody.
What is the perfect party for you?
A perfect party for me would be at the Berghain, hahahaha. Yes! Well for me a perfect party would be with a good Deejay, a good sound system, and a good setup, trying to perfect a party in which a person go in and don’t want to come out, enjoying the sound without sense of time and only want the maximum the party can gives.
What is your vision of the current techno scene?
I see the Techno scene growing up a lot, but the future of Techno is quite strong, I believe it will be difficult to take his place. Techno is a culture itself as well as other musical styles. I think that who is in this world has a lot to learn from the Techno and despite his styles there is always the darkest and the danceable. I currently follow the darkness! I never cared about fame, success and popularity. I was always by myself, I admired unknown talents like mine, I believe that there are people who think like that and there is a great talent that few know but totally dedicated to music and Techno. In the future I see myself playing Live and do several performances with synthesizers and modular. My focus is to make a set with my Techno. Dreaming is always good!
How is work with Underdub Records?
For me it is a great pride to be part of Underdub with many strong artists in the Techno scene and the amazing talent of each. I feel gratitude and happiness for this LP being released on this label, with great remixes. Underdub Records has a quality that few Labels have, because recognizes many talents and always demands the best of each. I hope to release many works still, and know the artists personally and the whole team, because very soon I will be in Portugal and will be a celebration party.

Tell us about your LP "Static".
Static is my first step on this wide techno scene, to describe my waveform to the other side of the auditor and share it through these synchronized elements.
What inspires you?
What inspires me? Gloom this place that's what inspires me.
What are your influences?
My influences are the worldwide artworks.
Tell us about techno scene of Tunisia.
Techno scene of Tunisia didn't start yet.
How is the experience of working with Underdub Records?
Underdub Records is more than a simple label, is the harmony between art and privacy!

When did you start DJing and what or who were your early passions and influences?
I started DJing in 1988 at the age of 15. I always had an interest in DJing. Stemming from my love of early rap and having friends from New York and Chicago always bringing me mixtapes to listen to. I was always infatuated with the sound of early dance music (electro and the first 'techno' coming out of Detroit) and my mother was a clubgoer. She had a great record collection and I was hearing early and late disco played at my house, and tons of danceable R&B. But, more than anything, in 1988, I wanted to be a DMC champion. I started playing techno primarily in about 1993-94. My early influences were people like Charles Noel (Archetyp), Mr. Claude Young Jr., Paul Johnson and Anthony "Shake" Shakir - who I had the fortune of playing alongside early in my life as a DJ.
Being the electronic music industry so vast and competitive, was it difficult for you to join it? Difficult? Well, no... When you're young and full of self-belief, you think you can do anything. The fun folly of youth. I had been part of a mildly successful hip-hop band, and understood marketing/self-promotion and also how to interface with people you look up to. I started producing music as a solo artist in 1994, by 1995 I was handing out these horrible cassette tapes with hand-printed covers and labels. I got calls back from Dan Bell and Anthony Shakir (who both took me under their wing and gave me opportunities to work with them in their studios) and I thought I'm doing something! I also spent a great deal of time learning from a masterful engineer and composer, DAC Crowell (who produces some of the greatest ambient and experimental works I've ever heard), I took what I learned and kept pushing! And I'm still pushing to this day. The relationship with the audience is crucial for a DJ, and yet it seems to be a fragile one. How do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them with something new?
The DJ has to always realize that it's not all about your equipment. It has to do with your talent. If you're not into what you're doing, the crowd may not be either. It's a situation of energy - you're either giving it or taking it away. A great DJ set tends to be an exchange of energy, one where the crowd gets behind the performer and the performer gives the crowd his best. I tend to play most of my own productions in my set. In that sense, the people get my own personal raw emotion. Something they may have never heard before, but something that hopefully drives them. I also like to surprise my crowd with great and danceable works that come from the past - after 25 years or so of listening and collecting, you find things that will work on a dancefloor no matter the age. As fragile as that relationship is, I absolutely LOVE playing records for people...
Tell us about your "Personal Growth" EP?
"Personal Growth" is something I'm typically concerned with. Continual improvement, finding new ways to express my creativity. The tunes on this EP are fairly different and come from several sessions where I've taken an idea I've had and experimented. "Angry Pop Song" has loops cut from a jam session in the studio, working with some of my hardware, "Downline Descent" is a track that uses an Arturia Microbrute to create the long, strange sounds that weave their way in and out of the tune and "Impasse Resolution Theorem" is a tune that I've had laying in wait for the right moment - that's me talking about my escape... As a producer, you have releases on labels such as MDR and Music Man Records. How rewarding it was for you to see your work recognized by the best dj's and producers?
Recently, I've realized that my work for MDR, Frictional, and Diametric share a very common theme. The owners of the labels are very picky as to what they will release. Each label challenged me to do work that I never thought I was capable of (or that people would pick up on and enjoy) and I am humbled and blessed to know that there are people that think very highly of my work. It's great meeting DJs and producers that you know of, introducing yourself and having said to you "Oh my goodness!!!! Great to meet you! I love your work!". It is quite humbling and makes me feel quite proud of my accomplishments. But I have so much more to do!
Tell us about your current DJ / Production setup? What Hardware / Software do you use?
My studio is a jumble of very utilitarian devices. I pick my tools based on how I interface with them. I'm a HUGE fan of Abelton's Live products, and have been using them since version 1.5. Other highlights? I use a Kawai K-1m, Nanoloop for iPad, Arturia's fantastic Microbrute, Korg's Volca Keys and Beats and Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 (which has reached the end of its run as a kit, I think). My DJ setup is: 2 technics 1200mkIIs (which I do all of my own service work on) and a Hercules DJ Console RMX. It's used as my mixer and interface for Traktor. There are many more tools in my studio, but those are the highlights/lowlights. What’s your favorite track of all times?
Every day that changes. Today? My favorite track today is "Remember" by Gino Soccio. I love the very simple and sparse lyrical content. "People come and go...life is strange, y'know..."
So how is the techno scene in your eyes at the moment? And how do you see it in the future? Techno is in an interesting place. There are several great performers out there, with several more fighting to get to the top level (like myself). The idea of the DJ is ever-evolving and that can be a double edged sword. There is a great focus now for me on doing live performances (when I say live, I mean: unscripted, free-form performances), mainly because there is this idea that 'everyone is a DJ'... Even your iPod. At this moment, the future looks like it's in the hands of the fan, who will work to seek out the best and brightest, not just what the festival circuit tells them is good. The darkness is coming back to techno, and as long as the human side of techno comes with it, I'm all for it. In the future, the competitive nature of the earlier days needs to come back - where competency, ability, and skill are the drivers of success. In order for the scene to survive, there have to be voices from everywhere - Women, the young producers, and all ethnicities need to be heard and seen doing great work - and it's slowly happening. People like Doctor Sleep, Sassmouth, Plural and Santiago Salazar come to mind. I want to see more diverse lineups in the future. It will take the fans to demand it!
