As a result, I’ve decided to try to start a nonprofit dedicated to getting power lines in California put underground and helping communities prepare for the event of a wildfire.

Hydro rate hike could pay to bury power lines: A pilot project endorsed by Markham council to bury hydro lines in Markham Centre for the purpose of beautification could potentially result in a rate increase on your PowerStream bill.

According to a staff report, the price of undergrounding power and utility lines on the 2.7-kilometre stretch between Rodick and Sciberras roads along Hwy. 7 is estimated at $23 million.
